Pretend we go with the "projected" pick of Edgecombe at #3, and Oubre, Drummond, and Gordon opt-in. At that point, our biggest need will (still) be another "dirty work" forward to slot in between George and Embiid.

Here's a list of forwards making ~$15 or less next season we could target by using some combo of Oubre/Drummond/Gordon/pick(s):

Finney-Smith (player option)
Jonathan Isaac
Deni Avdija
Obi Toppin
PJ Washington
Herb Jones
Grant Williams (coming off injury)
Bobby Portis (player option)
Brandon Clarke
Jabari Smith
Jarred Vanderbilt
Maxi Kleber
Kyle Anderson
Jalen Smith

We can use the TMLE on a guy like LaRavia or Boucher, but I don't envision either of them as starters.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Walker

I'd love to have Toppin, but I can't imagine Indy would move him, especially for the garbage we're offering. It would have to be a salary dump, and I'm not sure who would qualify that we would even want.

Yea I think the two most realistic targets on that list would be Brandon Clarke and Jalen Smith. With the addition of Flagg, I could also see there being no room for PJ Washington in Dallas.

PJ or Jalen would definitely be of interest.

Clarke's inability to stretch the floor would definitely worry me in a 7-game series.

I was just wondering if there were trade option at PF for us. This is a nice list. Give me PJ Washington. A switchable rebounding stretch even tho he too is undersized like our team

I’d actually like to watch a 30 for 30 on Ben Simmons. Where a good focus was his reluctance to shoot. I don’t think I’ve witnessed an nba player like him before. Guys who can’t shoot at least have a sample size for you to determine this. Ben wasn’t even at that point. Flat out shook to shoot the 3.

15-51 in high school
1-3 in college
5-36 in NBA (a handful of half court heaves before quarter ends)

I’ll never forget summer league his defender backed off him almost sitting in paint and Ben wouldn’t take the middy. Just dribbled dribbled dribbled pass.

Why can't Embiid become a high volume bomber from 3? He's become an 88% FT shooter on high volume. No one really guards him out there. I feel like that might be the transition that needs to be made and leave the paint open for our guards and allow us to play a non-shooting rebounder and secondary rim protector at the 4 (potentially Bona if he can stop fouling).

If I were to answer my own question, I'd say nothing but his ego. He's going to want the offense to still go through him. The glass half full outlook would be that he needs to try to be the old Embiid and experience for himself that he can't do that anymore and realize there has to be a different approach.

I'd like to see how Maxey-McCain-George-Bona-Embiid would look on offense with Embiid playing the Brook Lopez role AND if it can be good enough defensively.

I have a hard time seeing Bona at the 4 on either end of the floor. I think he'd get in the way offensively and not really know what to do with himself defensively. He's a basic roll man/shot blocker that doesn't really bring much else, and that just doesn't feel like a fit next to Jo.

If they were going to go 2 big, Broome feels like the option with his passing, shooting and rebounding... I'm just not sure he's an NBA rotation player.

Rather see a Maxey Mccain Edgecombe George Embiid instead ...but probably lacking length.

I think Bona/Broome could actually work. Not sure how either would work super well with embiid, i think a taller George Niang is the best compliment for Embiid at the 4

Based on the Embiid we've seen since coming back for the playoffs/team USA/briefly last year, rebounding and defense might need to be the biggest priority next to him over shooting.

Nets and Pistons both can give Grimes a $22-25M contract he wants but I’d guess both teams aren’t too interested in Grimes and expect Sixers to match and they would rather focus on other FAs instead.

So my bet here is Grimes gets his $22M contract and we offload Oubre and Drummond. While for our rotation, Watford replaces Oubre and Bona with Broome as back-up replaces Drummond.
