Just stop right there. He would have helped. He would have helped. He would have helped. Significantly. So WTF didn't they make the trade? And in case you don't understand Caruso's game, his offense would have fit flawlessly in the Kerr system (which is a rarity). He moves without the ball, He knocks down open 3s.
My god, Would they have won the championship? Who knows. But he would have helped. A lot. And what's the point here? You're arguing he wouldn't have helped ENOUGH? You don't know that. At all. The Warriors were one piece away. Maybe two. But Caruso WAS that missing piece that could have given you a REAL chance at a title.
For what? JK? A guy the head coach hates? Who doesn't fit. On a team of 30 something vets that want to win NOW and deserve the best chance to do so? Just ask yourself the question: would they have been better with Caruso or JK? The obvious answer is Caruso and isn't that the objective -- being the best team you can be? Just admit Joe Lacob is a fool. They've got Podz parading around everywhere thinking he's some big shot future all-star.
Joe Lacob makes me ill.

Dun had a deal for Caruso done and the Bulls went back on it at the last second because of Drummond.
Sure, maybe there was a counter opportunity that we don’t know about, but to act like we weren’t trying to get Caruso is false.

sure there was a deal that nobody knows about. please share some link!

A recent story by Bleacher Report Insider Jake Fischer revealed that a last-second decision by Chicago to remove a key asset from the deal kept the Warriors from acquiring Caruso at the 2024 trade deadline.
"Golden State believed it nearly had a deal for Caruso before the 2024 deadline buzzer sounded, sources said, which would have delivered multiple first-round picks to Chicago. Philadelphia was ready to send several second-round picks to Chicago for Andre Drummond, sources said, only for the Bulls to abruptly take Drummond off the market … and then watch him walk to Philadelphia without compensation in July in free agency.”
Now this was at the deadline prior to when he eventually got traded, but its clear we wanted Caruso. And maybe Kuminga could have made a trade work, I obviously would have sent him in a second. But they also ended up with Giddey for him who i’m guessing they wanted even more than Kuminga.
Again, no moral victories in this, i’ve wanted Caruso on this team for years (including for kuminga well before last year)… i’m just pointing out that the front office was clearly after him as well.

yup and Warriors later reported that they rejected the request for Kuminga. So you were right we were trying to use other assets to acquire Caruso but JK was not a part of the deal.

yup and Warriors later reported that they rejected the request for Kuminga. So you were right we were trying to use other assets to acquire Caruso but JK was not a part of the deal.
So if both reports are true it went something like:
- Bulls inquire about Kuminga
- Dubs say not available but offer a deal based on picks
- Bulls agree in theory
- Bulls back out last minute to keep Drummond
- Deadline passes, and by offseason they take Giddey so Kuminga probably not an option anyways
I’ll still mostly blame the Bulls on that due to Drummond fiasco lol. But ya, obviously wish we countered and included Kuminga. I don’t think I was in the majority on this board over the years trying to use Kuminga to get Caruso. And you are correct that this could have really changed the NBA… he’s the perfect guard next to Steph (but hurt a lot) and obviously would mean he’s not on the Thunder (not that they couldnt have still won).
