Eh. I could see it but probably not. Still a long term need for guys on value deals like him. And with Jrue gone they need some more PG play/ball handling/playmaking, especially since point forward Tatum is out. Pritchard is more of a PG than Simons.

But… he’s definitely more expendable now than he was before since Simons does profile kind of similarly. If someone knocked their socks off with an offer, they have to listen.

Sucks we only got one healthy year out of Jrue.

He was so good in 2024. Constantly making big plays on both ends and fitted in perfectly.

His finger and hamstring injuries were an underrated part of our demise this season.

I'm sure we're going to hear that they had their eyes on this player for a long time, because that is their MO...

Yep. The front office have never given away their true intentions.

Dating back to Danny we always BS the media a bit and seem to do unexpected things.

This acquisition reminds me a bit of Josh Richardson and Dennis Shroeder acquisitions. Project type players who maybe can fit and we keep around or we say thanks but see you later in February.

People were saying Brad would have to include a pick just to get rid of Jrue — and he ended up getting a younger player and two picks.

Well no one saw that one... What a surprise.

Legimate younger player on expiring contract.

Can keep him or trade him by deadline if tgat will be the only option to get under cap.

Great job by Brad, as usuall

I think it's 50-50 that Simons ever plays a game for us.

Jrue to POR is straight gangster. Brad don’t give a %#!#

Brad - Hey Jrue, I’m trading to Portland
Jrue - You a funny guy, Brad.
Brad - No, I’m serious
Jrue - You cold Brad. Damn

Brad Stevens is a magician. Simons got drafted into a difficult situation. A bad team, the G.M. who drafted him and coach were changed. They never allowed him to be the point guard (he is capable) and there's just been a weird short career for him. You can sense he's been unhappy and I'm positive we haven't seen the best from him. Maybe his effort on defense improves? At minimum he provides the bench a scoring option. Getting out from under the apron and Jrue's last couple of years is huge? Do you even need to make any other moves as far as shedding salary?

I was wondering the same thing - why did the blazers pay out 2nds to trade away an expiring deal for a long term Jrue deal? What am I missing?

Simons is bad. That's what you're missing.

Brad Stevens is a god, you **** worrywarts. And i don’t even know the details of the trade. Or if there was even a trade. Just know that your franchise is in the hands of the SBOBO. You’ll be alright.
