Okay, I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation, but you said "This move makes me think....". What is it about this move that makes the case for lots of turnover stronger?

Fundamentally I expected a legitimate big back in return for Jrue.

I don't think we can go into next year with our current big rotation. They're old, frail, a solid backup, and a barely playable backup to the backup. Very little athleticism. Which means we need to send something of real value to get a big or two onto the roster - that makes me wonder if the White/JB stuff is realer than I thought.

Similarly, I wouldn't be shocked if ALL of KP, Al and Luke are gone. We really need to remodel the frontcourt.

I don’t think Brad is overly concerned with what the roster shapes up to look like next season.

It’s going to be a nothing season given the timing of Tatum’s injury

Haliburton is one of the not so good defenders in the NBA.

But his shot making ability propelled Indy to the Finals.

Anfernee Simons is a similar player.

This is an upgrade that also saves the Cs 40m in taxes, according to reports.

And I don't think Brad is done dealing.

Dude is a shot maker for sure. He’s been on a bad team since he started getting minutes. In LOVE with the trade, Lukewarm on Simmons longterm.

Doesn't matter.

Let's get through next season first.

The long term can wait.

I would call Brooklyn and see how much draft capital it would take to trade Cam Johnson for Simon's. Cam Johnson a bigger player, better player, makes 6.5 mil less than Simmons.

Id trade Simon's, the 2nds, and probably another pick to slide down to a lower salary number and get 2 years of Cam instead of 1 year of Simons.

The thing is…what solid bigs are even available?

Maybe you could get a guy like Bam but I feel it’s a bunch of guys with bad contracts like Ayton who are available.

Loved what Jrue did in 2024. He is one of the main reasons we won the title. White and Jrue were awesome. I felt in that playoff run, that Brown, White and Jrue played better than Tatum in about half the games. Thank you Jrue!

With that being, Jrue was half the player this season, compared to last. His shooting and rebounding went down a lot. He went from a borderline all star in 2024 to a borderline starter in 2025. Jrue also had 3 years left on his contract at the age of 35.

Not sure if Boston will resign Simons when the time comes because he is playing on an expiring this season. Either way this was a good trade for Boston, with the potential of being really good.

Also, the way I look at it is we got Walter Clayton Jr now in Simons. Now lets draft two bigs or a wing and a big.

One of my first thoughts as well. Now I’m kinda thinking we keep him, though. BKN can reign Cam Thomas and they can draft guards too, so im not sure they would be down for it. Definitely a possibility though

Now that Simons is in the bag, no need to trade JB.

No need for Harper anymore.

Looks like next up will be KP and maybe Sam.

I hate to say it, but Simons is a Mazzulla type player.

Looking like the Cs will be one best 3pt shooting teams next season.

Good start.

Next move might to be trade Hauser or KP.

If we can move up in the draft and pick Cedric Coward or Fleming or even Thomas Sorber. Or whoever Brad and the scouts like in the 12-18 range. Then draft a legit center, it will be exiting.

If this first domino is all money driven.

You could send Simmons to CHI for Vuc. Saves another $6M. Simmons value can’t be high.

Nikola Vučević doesn't make too much sense for Boston next season with Tatum out. He will be turning 35. If he was 31 or 32, then yes.

Blazers fans guessing this could be 3D chess to get off Jerami Grant.

The theory is that Milwaukee wants Jrue and will take Jerami Grant to get two theoretically productive players for injured Dame.
And that in 60 days or when combining salaries window reopens Portland will trade Jrue ($32) and Jerami ($34) for Dame who only has two years ($59, $63) rather than Grant and Jrue who each have three years. lol ...

If you keep Simons, trade KP and Hauser, sign 28 & 32, you have ~$20.7M you can take back in the trades and fill 2 roster spots.
