I wonder if Booker asks out.

"Sources said Phoenix is expected to be aggressive over the next couple of weeks, with a mandate to retool its roster around Booker," Bontemps reported. "He is expected to get a two-year extension next month in the neighborhood of $150 million, tying him to the franchise through the 2029-30 season."

The summer of full Besart isn't in anyone best interest...of course, every summer is a summer of full Besart around here.

Knicks likely arent trading KAT . And if they do it won't be for lesser pieces.

Daniel Gafford just agreed to a 3 year, $60MM deal. Mitch for 3, years $48 would be good value considering his injury history.

If the plan is to be over the 2nd apron in 26/27 and 27/28 - i would think your better off overpaying Mitch on a 2+1.

According to Smith - it seems like the goal is to have everyone on player options in 28/29 (besides KAT who has a player option the previous summer) with the goal of creating meaningful cap space around Brunson entering his age 32 or age 33 seasons.

I think there is a 2 year window left with this core - then real decisions need to be made (KAT’s opt out).

The Knicks aren't going to have KAT on the roster in the final year of his contract before he can opt-out. He signs the extension or he gets traded.

And that’s a huge reason why they fired Thibs, because Mikal, KAT, and some of the bench guys will be back

We need to significantly upgrade 7-10 or there's honestly no way we compete with OKC next year, my 2 cents.

They don't need to be stars, but they need to at least look like they belong on an NBA court.

I think they can do it. They got some interesting prospects on the roster.

The conference is wide open, Indiana and Boston might be out for the year.

Orlando, Detroit and Cleveland are out current threats.

If leon can add much needed depth and the next coach is willing to play that depth... we can get to the promise land.

Given continuity and some extra depth, nothing else, we’ll be in the Finals and possibly champions around this time next year.

I dont think we're trading him either but it could very well be for lesser players if we did it. I could easily see the Knicks treating Brunson like a superstar and preferring a few more players at OG and Bridges tier in exchange for a single person in Towns tier or higher. I just didnt like that particular return.

Idk, I think the NBA is all about matchups and that even our current team was better suited to play the Thunder than the Pacers. Our defense is just better suited to stop basket attackers and teams wanting to score in the paint, while struggling against teams that spread out and moved thee ball on the perimeter.

Thay wasn't me saying I know we would've won but that it would've been an easier matchup for us. That said I still think nothing major is necessary. If you could use the midlevel along with Deuce to get DVC back and then fill in the bench with vet minimum guys Id feel really great. If we just offered the entire MLE to Russell Westbrook and then signed a could strategic vet minimum guys Id feel the same way.

The potential Jabari Smith/Kessler trade and of course the Giannis and/or JJJ trades would likely accomplish this.

Jabari is intriguing. He was someone I was looking at during the year as a potential mobile rim protector that could also stretch the floor. I like his potential as a high end role player with room to grow. My only concern is sometimes he looked a little stiff with a lack of explosiveness at times.

I like the players you named. I'm just not sure how available they are especially for what the Knicks have to offer. I wasn't a fan of pairing KAT and JB with their defensive liabilities and slightly awkward fit on the offensive end but at this point I wouldn't want to make any significant changes to the core just go chasing another big name to add another expensive piece to go alongside KAT and JB. I would give them at least until the deadline with a new coach and then possibly trade one of them if necessary while trying to maintain some depth.

If we are talking about keeping our top 3 (KAT, OG, Brunson) the Smith / Kessler trade with Houston makes the most sense. Houston has a 1-2 year Durant window now and just traded away Brooks. Mikal makes even MORE sense for them now than when they tried to trade 4 1st rd picks for him.

Their roster construction with Bridges (24.9M) shipping out Jabari (12M), Jock Landale (8M) and filler (4M ish) then rerouting the first round picks (2 or 3 depending on q6uality) to Utah works really really well and is realistic.

For Giannis and JJJ it would all depend on leverage. Only way we get either is if either basically try and push coming here. And with Giannis it would be Bucks basically saying we will honor your wishes.
Umm ... Mikal doesn't make sense at all. They've cleared the wsy for Yhompson and Eason. They are going to grow internally.
