I would hope since he will not have to use as much energy on offense that he can use that energy on defense. Heat can give Clayton Duncan play book as a rookie

Re: **NBA Draft Discussion 2025**
Yeah compared to Shabazz, Clayton seems like a different animal. Shabazz was like a 6 foot 1, 175 lbs for a senior that turned 23 right after he was drafted. That was small then, tiny now. If his shot wasn't falling he could've give you much else. Clayton atleast has average size, length, and good weight. I can imagine him turning into a decent defender (especially team defender). I also think he's an underrated athlete, he tested well agility wise at the combine and had a couple nice dunks this season.
I really like his ability to shoot anywhere and in any way possible. Spot up, catch and shoot, off the dribble, off dribble hand offs, mid range, deep 3s, even the mid range. He even finished 60% at the rim this year. I like getting a rookie that can actually shoot out the gate for once. And he can run an offense.

More like Shabazz Napier 2.0.
A small, old prospect, that took advantage i the tournament but has zero juice to his game and won't translate well against NBA defenses.
Patty Mills type upside.
Very wrong choice for a team desperate for upside, creativity and creation.
Hopefully we won't make the same mistake twice.
Patty Mills is a better prospect comparison than Shabazz IMO. Shabazz has the narrative parallel with the optics of being a Senior leading a championship team.
I think WCJ has a little more athletic juice than both. But, I agree that WCJ is more of a floor pick than a ceiling one. Somewhere between Patty Mills and FVV is where his NBA playing style should reside I'd hope. Not bad company in terms of contributing to winning teams.
There's zero justification for a team in our situation (low on talent, low on scoring and creating) to make a "floor pick".
We're not a winning team either, we're a losing team. Why are picking like we need a reliable 10 minutes per backup PG to be playable next to the big 3.
Going for the low ceiling senior yet again, considering our miserable roster - would be beyond misguided - it would be a cowardly pick.

Yea I feel you. Maybe WCJ has more ceiling than we expect. IDK. I don't necessarily expect that. But, I do like him as a prospect much more than I liked Napier when we drafted him.

Heat def need another playmaker. Claytons high level shooting is a big asset. Looking at the bigger picture, our team needs another guy who can torch the nets, not just Tyler.

I agree he’s got that bulldog mentality and stout build to succeed. I can’t believe Rex is comparing him to Napier and Mills smdh. Not even close

Traore is going to the Wiz or possibly even the Suns who worked him out recently. The Wiz for sure not passing him up. They have scouted him personally

Also, college basketball this season was probably the strongest it’s been in a long time due to the NIL and players who would be late first/early second round picks sticking around later, which makes his performance against that level of competition way more impressive than when Napier was in college and the talent pool was very poor.
