Lord, I just read 6 pages. Already mentioned I love the trade of Jrue for Simons. Simons isn't a long tall positional defender I like, But overall he is better than some are giving credit for. He can easily get in the lane and score. Something we need. And his shooting is Legit. With all that said using him in another trade is Fine as well.

And Now KP rumored to SAS has me drooling. KP for 14 +plus K Johnson would be a Homerun. and at 14 we can get a stud young player IMO. Who, I have no idea.

Simons could take ~2000 if he stays but there are some real players still coming back to this team since Brad is going to not let these roster spots go to unproven guys.

Brad has done a great job, but the greatest work may be in process right now.
This morning Stephen A. Smith on First Take addressed the KP issue. He rightfully said he can't see how another team giving up anything for KP. It's we still don't know what's wrong with him. This is vastly different than his foot injuries.
So Brad is doing this in real time in competition with every team. When you consider filling out a 14 man roster, he is looking to save $30 million, trying to fill the center position with this impossible KP situation, keeping the team competitive without Tatum, and filling those 5200 minutes in a competitive way.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

When I saw the simons trade I was worried that that Stevens did gave 1-2 firsts for him because I'm not a fan and he is expiring but damn this is really good in every sense.

Why do people keep quoting betting odds like they mean anything?

Betting companies just keep sucking people in with their BS odds.

Remember when Ben Simmons was favourite to go to Boston earlier this season after being cut despite it being financially impossible under the CBA?

Those are kind of just bets for PR. There is no end date for the bet. Like a futures bet you know the end date. But a Bam trade bet, when is the end date of that bad? All futures contracts need to have an exoneration date.

Even trading those guys above sends out 40M+ with ~20M left to go, means that they need to get some guys that can really play and total around (less than) 10-15M salary.

I think taking back very uninspiring players like this but extracting some pick value is the way to go. If at the deadline, the team looks good you can use the draft capital to attach to the slop for upgrades.

But Porzingis/Simons/Hauser are all, IMO, expendable and make a combined $68.5M this year. If they want to just duck the 2nd apron, those three out means they can take back $49.2M. To duck the tax altogether, $29.2M. Whatever threshold they pick based on their long term ownership payroll expectations, extract as much pick value as you can by using that salary to take back multi year guys that you can flip in deals later with picks attached.

Do the hard part now but then starting at the deadline (potentially, depending on how Tatum's recovery looks and how the team is playing) or more likely next offseason start building it all the way back up trading picks for good vets left and right like we did the first time.

Can we move Hauser and get under the 2nd apron without moving KP?

This might be an unpopular opinion but I'd prefer to keep KP and extend him at a lower salary if possible.

I wonder if we could get some combination of Washington, Gafford, and Lively from Dallas for KP. They don't need all three bigs alongside Davis. Davis/KP would be nasty length and both can stretch the floor, and any two of those guys would give us youth and depth at big for the future

Contract isn’t that bad. All nba defender. Older, but known quantity at a high level still.

$32M ain’t star level cash. He is an effective player. Also, on Simons, just because he is good stats on bad team doesn’t mean he can’t play on a good team.

Please keep in mind that we have to bring in younger guys (not simply because it was a successful blueprint in the finals) as a result of Tatum's injury even when he returns. I expect the Celtics to exercise extreme caution the next two years by allocating rest days for him like he was some old veteran. Better for younger guys to soak up those minutes.

Dallas can’t afford to do it, no way you can depend on two chronically unhealthy players. Remember, KP was out many times before he even got to us. Think he played the most games is his career in Washington and it was like 65 games. Everyone knows AD is a walking injury.

I know they said it’s rumored but I don’t see how there is a way, other than crazy, that Dallas would take on Porzi.

With that said, do it Brad!! Hehegegegehehejejehahaha!! (Evil laugh)

This is exactly what I expected and been saying for weeks while people thought they were gonna field a championship roster next year.

Not happening

People keep forgetting, the Jays have gotten to the ECF with less. You shouldn’t count out Celtics just because we may not have the names of old. Let’s see what we do from here, then see where we are by mid-season, before you completely count us out.

Yeah, I know Tatum will be out, but let’s just get to a good seed in the playoffs and see what we do when Tatum gets back.

Edit: KD tore his Achilles six years ago, was back playing high level five years ago, with all the money teams put in these types of things, five years it’s a long time to come up with more advancements in this type of surgery. Who knows when Tatum will be back. They obviously figured something out during this time because they got the surgery for Tatum in less than 24 hours, who knows what that will look like. I’m not even convinced he won’t be back before the regular season is done.

People seem to forget that Tatum has a **** career altering, maybe and most likely season long injury.

Stop dismissing it. You think this dude is gonna come back in March and ramp it up to 100 for the playoffs?

Give me a break.

Not as things stand right now. Hauser only makes $10 million and we're over the apron by more than that. But, if Brad keeps Anfernee Simons moving, trading him for a smaller dollar amount player, then could be.
