As thought experience:
If you could make a package Poetl etc. for Sabonis would most people do this?
I am still on the fence of whether a guy like Sabonis even makes us better or if Poeltl's better defense = better overall impact?
or if this is overvalued (too far) and Sabonis is too much of an upgrade not to make that type of trade?
As good and underrated as Poeltl is we can't forget he has ALOT of debilitating negatives - zero shooting, cant shoot free throws, zero overall spacing, basically cant play at end of games, not really built for playoff crunch time, capped at 25-28mpg and will want close to 30mil on an extension
Would you rather invest 30 mil in a player who isn't so limited?
We have to look at things on the margin like this in the way we are building (no more high lottery picks) , it likely has to be an Indy model of depth and contribution across the board in versatile facets.
In a scenario where we do take Coward and he's the RJ replacement now or near future, what would be the big fish move that makes sense?
PG- Quickley
SG- Coward
SF- Ingram
PF- Barnes
C- Poeltl
who would you inquire about? big fish wise because thats a nice looking foundation to start with + depth (Dick, Walter etc.) + all our picks
A part of me thinks, instead of a star trading, go for a guy who could breakout and needs more opportunity instead like a Jarace Walker?
Outside of Giannis, probably nobody because all of the big fish are not in the market (including Giannis).
The only Big names i could see proably be available are:
Tyrese Maxey
Trae Young
Karl A. Towns
Jaylen Brown If Celtics want to move on, very unlikely
Booker if Suns blow it up, which is unlikely
Ja Morant
Zion
Thats the list.
The last two i just added cause of the list beeing so short.
