Trying to win games. I know it's a philosophy some Timberwolves fans still don't agree with here, so it makes sense that there would be some confusion.

Going the wrong way about it with Jrue...

The Blazers are building a defensive identity. Anfernee Simons is not that. Jrue Holiday is.

I bet Simons' market is more limited than people think. Expiring, high-ish money, undersized scoring guard who doesn't play defense.

Neither is Jrue these days either...

Although, he would be a benefit in the locker room for the younguns learning NBA defence. I'll give you that. But as for Jrue the player, he aint what he used to be.

Sorry, Klomp...you got this one wrong. POR is nowhere near a "win now" team.

Taking on two (2) extra years of a clearly deteriorating talent and paying even marginal assets to do so is disastrous. It's worthy of termination for a GM, really.

They want to try to win games....I never said they would be good at it.

Still a recent starting player who was a two time champion on a team full of young kids.

Not everything is a win now move. I think it was an overpay giving two seconds. But you have like 4 lead guards one was gonna leave.

If he still wasn't owed over 100M the next 3 years I'd find it a lot more defensible.

Especially combined with the Grant contract.

The Blazers won't be good in 1 year, maybe at the end of 2 years they'll be emerging at which point both Jrue and Grant will be expiring, which in themselves could be valuable contracts.

It's pretty defensible. Gives the Blazers time to build their rotation using rookies and young players while have some vet presence and putting structure around the team.

Not everyone has traded away all of their picks and need to make every year count.

The Blazers are a rebuilding team doing exactly that. Rebuilding.

Whoa. What a depressing thing to hear from the Owner if you're a Nuggets fan. They'd rather part ways with Jokic than other big contracts like Murray or Porter? Seems like an odd statement.

I'm guessing the "wrong player to get injured" would be Murray. I think they'd love to trade Porter, but my guess is there is very little interest.

Have to be realistic about what your team can accomplish, what you can and can't upgrade, timeline, and player satisfaction not biting you in the ass.

Still seems like an unnecessary dark cloud to put over the upcoming season at this point.

Does he think there will be less fan revolt if he puts the idea out there now, instead of blindsiding the fanbase IF it does happen?

My guess is they might have some inkling about some player I'd put my money on Jamal, who's not recovering or is reinjured but not to the point where they can actually call it.

And so they're considering all options and yeah might not want to blindside the fan base.

I doubt they move Joker but they might make some other crazy move and this is softening up the base.

I've honestly pondered any Denver piece as someone Connelly might look into. Obviously some high price tags to work around though.
