I strongly disagree. Bane got #16 and a bunch of picks that are likely to be late 1sts. The best asset that KD returned was #10 in the draft.

Lauri is somewhat injury prone, makes 50 million a year for the next four years, and is coming off a season where he averaged 19/6/1.5 with his worst scoring efficiency of the last 5 seasons. I wouldn't trade the 4th pick for Lauri straight up and I don't think many teams would.

I don't think Lauri will get as much in a trade as Bane did.

I probably would not either. but good luck getting Danny Ainge to come down on his asking price. just because another team charitably donated Kevin Durant, don't expect others to

That’s fine but the offer you sent was our 2 worst firsts we own, a 2nd and 3 players you wouldn’t care about losing. So we can play the Lauri is Bane thing but this offer was way worse lol

They trade successfully straight up, so I’d love to deal the 4, Miles and one of our seconds (if pressed would give up both) for the 5, 21 and Collins. Doubt they’d do that but they might. I just think Collins brings us better size, strength, shooting and rebounding. Miles is a better passer and faster running the court, but I’d welcome the dynamic John Collins would bring.

jrue Has been a guy we have discussed here several times. If Boston called the Hornets up tonight and gave us a chance to beat the Simons deal. What would you have offered Boston?

Portland willing to just take the chance of Holiday being cooked before his deal is up in an attempt to try to have an elite defense. Don’t love Jrue but will say good for Portland for picking an identity and trying to lean into that.

It was just too much money longterm for me especially after Jrue regressed this year on both sides of the ball.

if they like Simons like that, no i don't think we would've beaten this. Expirings and 2nds is about as good as it was going to get for him, and they got an expiring that will probably average 15-18 ppg for the Celtics.

Let's not exaggerate regression on defense. Jrue remains one of the best defenders in the NBA. You don't streak together 4 consecutive top-10 finishes for DPOY, only to fall off the map after 1 season.

I think Portland is going to regret that deal pretty quickly. They do have an elite defense now though, they can be the Magic of the West which is good for 8-10 seed.

Happy NBA Draft Eve Hornets Gang!

So many trade possibilities, and probably none actually happen. But it’s fun to speculate. Hornets SI takes another crack at a blockbuster deal in this article. https://www.si.com/nba/hornets/draft/one-crazy-draft-night-trade-that-could-actually-make-the-hornets-dangerous
Since the Pelicans are a favored destination per Ace camp, if he’s available at 4, this deal brings the mighty and risky Zion home to Charlotte, sends Miles and stuff there, and we get 7 to draft K-Nipple or someone else.

What cha think?

High risk of course given Zions injury history and ongoing off court soap operas. But he's an unstoppable force when he's healthy and on the floor.

I'd roll the dice and do it; bridges/ Tijan/NSJ will collectively be set to eat up roughly comparable money to what Zion is due two out of the next three years anyway, and we're not going anywhere with them. I'm indifferent to most of the prospects in the 4-7 range after cooper/Harper and VJ are off the board. We could still snag one with the #7. Finally, the future Dallas first lost some value once they landed Flagg, so I'm ok parting with it in a package like the one proposed in the article

this is one Kon pitch I can get behind. Kon makes a lot more sense to round out the roster with a major win now move like Zion.
just doesnt make sense to draft him at 4

Dumars just made one dumb trade, they are vulnerable right now. It's time to pick up the phone and call New Orleans. That franchise owes us.

Dumars won't trade Zion, it's probably a directive from the ownership. But if we trade for Zion we would then need a 5 who can shoot and defend, and those are hard to find

If we trade for Zion we better have Door Dash on speed dial for all the Mountain Dew and pizza he will be parading through the clubhouse. The young guys will have many opportunities to veg out and play video games. It's too perfect.

Bam is the dream target for me. NC guy plays smart can also play that secondary playmaker role. Would be great for the locker room.

Mine is Tre Murphy III, also an NC guy.

Do you think the Pelicans value Ace more than Murphy?

No. I think their departure from McCollum with Murray injured clears the way for them to draft a PG, and hold Murphy III (perhaps the price to move up to 3 for Ace).

So Fears 4 if the price is right ahead of Jazz (worked out 2x), then Jakucionis if they stay put at 7.
