That's what I've felt about Sheppard for them. Just expensive if he's not going to grab a role for where they are at.

Yeah, I felt that way about Reed but with Jalen traded I think he has a shot for a bigger role now.

Jabari is getting paid next year. And his role just got filled by an all time great, that you likely want to keep for at least one year..

Just seems like time to cash out.

They still love Sheppard according to everyone, they're gonna play him this year

Definitely seems like space for him. I liked him coming out of the draft, though the fit seems a little tough with two smaller guys together.

What are they going to do with the front court, is Smith possibly the guy on the outside or no?

Probably needs a fourth team because..

KP and DJM to Phoenix
Beal, 29, 2028 “worse than…” first to NOP
Olynyk and Royce to Boston

Phoenix gets to feel like they have a good team if they can get healthy? Trade Grayson for a PF or draft one at 10 if you want?

No idea on the value there, but assume Boston wants Kelly and/or Royce to other teams..

Brooklyn has 4 first round picks including 19, 26, and 27. I have to imagine they'd part with some combo of those. What are the protections on the HOU/BKN pick?
Houston has swap rights with BKN unprotected so it can be their own unprotected swap back if Houston wants in or the pick outright but would not be unprotected in that case

Interesting. I'd probably rather have the unprotected right to swap picks with Brooklyn in '27 than the 19th pick in this draft, but maybe Houston has their eye on someone.

They see him as Fred's eventual heir and current backup, not really concerned about the two together long term.

And idk what you really mean by on the outside. They have the exact same number of wings as they did before

Yeah I don't think 19 by itself gets it done was just saying it could be offered

Might offer up the second best of 2027 phx/bkn/hou first. Should be a good pick worth more than 19. Maybe 19 and some future seconds.

I think BOS would be fine taking them both and moving separately (for some of them 2nds...).
PHO can't do with aggregation, though, right? Unless there's a path to duck the 2nd apron before this.
And the ever-thorny Beal agreeing thing.

Jabari to SA for #14? That seems like the most natural fit of the teams in the 11-20 range.

Sengun, KD, Vleet and Amen are must starters.
Jabari probably the fifth with Eason getting equal minutes.
Amen can fill any role 1-4 so sg to start but probably plays forward as needed giving guard minutes to Sheppard and Whitmore (20-25 a game?).
Adams and KD probably have reduced minutes until playoffs.
Tate, Holiday and Uncle Jeff probably hang around for junk minutes.
Not sure if they keep Landale or waive his non guaranteed contract.

I think they let him learn from KD. If he gets his shot back to Auburn level and improves his handle then would be special.

So..

Scoot, Grant, 11, 2028 swap (better of mil/Portland), 2029 first (best of Portland/Mil/Boston) for Trae?

Trae/Jrue starting with Sharpe playing more minutes than Jrue? Atlanta takes a step back and ignores the pick debt to go full youth movement?

But that’s not very fun should be bigger.

That’s a really good fit that I don’t think we talked about much here. I could see Chicago as has been posted, a lot of times. It seems like a bad idea, but if they think the fit with Matas is worth investing in.

Or if Houston wants to go higher in the lottery, they can add value to Jabari. But Jabari feels really blocked. And I wouldn’t wait to see if Jabari finally figured it out to trade him. Get the value while you can.

I cant help myself so apologies

Wiz, you can easily make the playoffs and still have a nice young core by trading some of these expiring vets for one Anthony Davis.

Say any two of (Smart, Midds, CJ), 2027 FRP, 2029 FRP, and #18 for AD. You get to keep those young guys and even #6, I won't be greedy.

Anfernee Simmons, Sam Hauser, Boston 2026 frp for Cam Johnson. Structured as two separate trades for the Celtics. Nets get younger and get a couple solid assets. They can get a look at Simmons and decide if he is worthy of extending.
Celtics get a good player to fit in Timeline. With Tatum, Brown and White.

Alternatively Simmons, 26 1st, 2031 swap or Lotto protected first for Johnson.

-doubt Houston trades back into the draft unless they see star potential fall, that no one else sees. Especially for any of our future juicy picks. And especially without having all thier future extensions fleshed out. Imo, they are clearly stockpiling for the next star to break lose.
-Moving Jabari is completely nonsensical, especially for #14. They just withheld him from Durant deals and sent #10 instead, and cleared a spot in the starting lineup for him. Unless someone offers #3 (Edgecombe is the only guy i see with Jabari's upside as high end role player ) or something like 3 future firsts, he is staying. That would be my line.
-Understanding the value of young players remains a huge blindspot for people on this forum for some reason. Jabari is one of the most valuable archetypes in the league...and he is so so young.
- Baring a major trade, FVV or Durant are likely the next guys out to clear salaries. If it's FVV, and Reed struggles, I'd expect Harden to return in free agency on a cheaper deal.

Also, he’s still really young and still has a lot of rookie contract left.
