Re: Around The NBA : 2024-25 Season
The impact of Jrue in Portland is not about him being the lead PG. He played 30.6 mpg last year, more when it mattered, but I expect that number to go down. Adding Jrue to Portland is more like what Houston did when it added Brooks (as opposed to FVV) and Detroit adding Tobias Harris. Or CP3 on the Spurs. It’s a culture / teaching move. Adds defense, grit, basketball IQ, and a guy who was won rings to a very young team that needs those things, to include mentoring its guards.
Jrue will likely be the 3rd guard on the team behind Scoot and Sharpe, and maybe they draft someone else who also splits a bunch of minutes at the 1 and/or 2 - but the impact will be just as much his impact on the other players as it is in terms of his actual production and stabilizing influence on the court.

No idea about this guy... Apparently Faizan Hasnany has been "Manager of Basketball Strategy & Analytics" for the past 3 years and before that he was "Coordinator of Basketball Analytics" for 3 years. No idea what happens to him.
I work as a data engineer in the basketball analytics department at Dallas Mavericks. My main responsibility is creating and maintaining data pipelines from different sources to our internal database. I work closely with the front office, coaches, scouts and sports scientists to empower data-driven decision making.
I previously had a chance to help BBall-Index by developing and deploying multiple R-Shiny Applications for querying, visualizing and profiling NBA teams and players. I also worked at Soccerment in Milan, Italy, where I wrote pieces to explain concepts of soccer analytics in a succinct and understandable manner for the public. Additionally, I studied Italian in college and spent a summer in Siena, Italy, taking Italian language and culture classes before going to study in Italy.
In my spare time, you can find me watching my favorite team, Galatasaray, or shopping sneakers.

Did we ever hire someone to be in charge of player development? Not having a guy during the offseason seems like a dumb idea.

PORTLAND
Holiday, Sharpe, Avdija, Grant, Ayton and bench of
Henderson, Banton, Camara, Thybulle, Clingan, R.Williams and draft pick #11 should be playoff team or very close.. and they will probably trade R.Williams for other need on the roster?!

They started Camara all last season and he's one of their best players. Deni & Camara are about as locked for Portland as Giddey & Coby are for Chicago. I'd guess they start Scoot - Jrue - Camara - Deni - Ayton. The 5th player may be up in the air but I'd be surprised if Jrue-Deni-Camera-Ayton don't start.

Who else expect AK to do nothing but take the 2 picks and make no other deals besides me.

Don't know what to feel about the CJ move.
Cj is an expiring deal. Poole has 2 more seasons left. Cant tell if either team is tanking or being serious.

The West is going to be tough so I'm not sure if that's a playoff team.. But with the Holiday trade it signals that Portland wants to compete next year.

Good move for Washington and I'm not sure why New Orleans did that deal. I guess they believe in Poole?
Right now with Murray out New Orleans doesn't have a PG. I know CJ isn't really a PG, but he could play the position at times to help fill in. Plus he's an expiring contract.

Poole's almost a decade younger. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Yeah...that's all I can figure. Sorta a lateral in terms of talent. If either team needs a PG, how about Carter for a 2nd?

I bet you're right, but I wouldn't make this trade. I'd rather have a decent player (CJ) and future flexibility.
Poole to me is a low BB IQ player who can sometimes get hot from three.

I think he had a bounce-back year last season. But man, we really shoulda dumped Coby to ORL, seems like this offseason you can get paid to take a similarly talented SG.

I wonder if there were any discussions between Orlando and Chicago...? Coby isn't as good as Bane, but he'd cost less in a trade.

Read a tweet that I can't find and don't know who the source was, but supposedly Orlando offered two 1st round picks, Jonathan Issac and another player for coby.
Articles are out there with the same info
https://fadeawayworld.net/nba/chicago-bulls/chicago-bulls-magics-massive-offer-coby-white
I thought the tweet was fake when I read it because I didn't see any mention of it on this board at all.
