The only issues i have with Loon and GP2 is that they don't space the floor and they can’t be relied on for heavy minutes. But that mostly has to do with the fact that we have Jimmy/Dray and potentially Kuminga taking up a ton of minutes that need shooters around them. A big issue last year was how heavily we needed to rely on Buddy and Post since they were the only people that could shoot it somewhat consistently.

But, if we can swap Trayce roster spot for 1 more stretch big (Lopez, trade up for Raynaud, etc)…. and use free agency to get 3/D players (the guys ive mentioned prior… laravia, Yabu, Monte, Lopez, Melton etc)… then its doable to have your last vet mins be Loon/GP2, who have a proven track record of being winning players when the lineups compliment them.

Also… shoot the ball Loon! I have faith in him that he can shoot 33% from 3 to keep a defense honest.

Attempting 2 timelines with Poole, Moody, Kuminga, and Wiseman was a mistake.

I don’t actually think 2 timelines was a mistake. It was just who they drafted that was a mistake. Like if in a dream world we had traded down and taken Halliburton gotten Franz and Trey Murphy or even Sengun were looking at extending the dynasty

Curry/haliburton
Poole
Trey
Franz
Dray

Is one hell of a lineup with a lot of upside for the future.
Guys like David West, Livingston. Speights, Bjelica and porter brought more in win now than the talented rookies briught. When you have a talented core, do not draft any rookies.

You’re talking about wiseman, jk and moody and not Trey Murphy, Franz Wagner or Tyrese Halliburton.

Also Poole did contribute heavily in 22.

If Beal gets stretch waived, any thoughts on adding him as our starting 2-guard?

Not sure how bad his defense is, and he cant stay healthy, but at the minimum or tpmle should be good value.

Don’t think he gets stretch waived if they trade Kd. Will most likely need his offense at that point since they won’t be getting anyone great in return.

Word around the campfire here in the valley is that it depends on the return. If they get offensive type players in return, the chances are higher he gets stretch waived. If they dont get offensive type players in return… they likely keep him.

If he gives up significant money he gets stretch waived regardless of Durant trade return, but I havent heard anyone come up with a compelling reason for him to give up significant money in a buyout situation.

Other PHX guys who may be available are Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale… but Im guessing we’d rather keep Moody and Hield over someone like Grayson Allen. Royce O’Neale would be interesting (with pick(s)) in a Jk S&T but PHX cant do S&T with their cap situation so not sure how else we get ONeale without cause holes elsewhere.

Now that the season is officially over it seems more obvious than ever to me that I need to just accept that the Warriors will just be competitive at best for the remainder of Steph's career with the way they are building this team.

There is little chance a team built around 3 guys who are all over 35 will be able to finish the postseason healthy enough to get to the WCF.

What a ride it has been! Never thought my Warriors would be relevant let alone a dynasty!

Seems like there's little chance for any team to stay healthy for an entire post season run.

Lillard, Tatum, and Haliburton all tearing the achilles in the same playoff run is crazy.

My 2nd thought after seeing the hali injury was, "thank god we didn't try to get steph out there for game 5"

Yup, the champion has always needed a little luck to win a title.

But having an old roster doesn’t help the cause.

Need more 3pt shooting...

For Warriors, players with the highest rate of made 3s in per36...

#2 Curry 5.0
#9 Hield 3.9
#56 Moody 2.8
#85 Podz 2.4 (3.3 per36 after the all-star break which at that rate would put him in the top 30 of the NBA)
Drops greatly.
#168 Draymond 1.5

Surprise players who were high in 3s made per36.
#3 I.Joe 4.3
#4 Poole 4.2 (since he's an ex-Warrior and one of the lowest BBIQs I've ever seen)
#8 Sensabaugh 3.9
#11 J.Huff 3.9
#16 J.Battle 3.6
#17 Niang 3.5
#19 O'Neale 3.5
#22 Trent Jr. 3.4
#88 M.Monk 2.4 (2nd lowest rate in his career)
and of course more... get 1-2 guys for the bench who hit 2 per36. Last season there were 134 NBA players who 2 or more 3s per36. This last season 10 players on the GSW roster did this, but out of those 10, Melton, Wiggins, Schroder, are gone Waters, and Rowe was on a 2 way. Knox was close at 1.9.

I would think a few of those players could be relatively cheap to acquire.

I think that is the biggest need -- Steph & Jimmy generate great looks, and in Dray who is basically a 0 on offense, but the other 2 guys *have* to be threats on offense. We need to pick up one more 3&D guy.

Another shooter to pair with Steph or the bench (if buddy starts) would do wonders. All of a sudden, with post, buddy, steph, and 1 more shooter, we'd be at about league average. If podz, moody, and JK get back to their career highs from 3, we'd have a great shooting team. Surround Dray with shooters and we'll see that he's far from a 0 on offense. Just a tough fit and hard to build around.

It's fine having 1 guy who isn't an offensive threat if that guy is willing to do the dirty work of screening, but the others have to be real threats. We saw Podz wide open dribbling around way too much, other teams just covered the 3 guys they thought were threats and left the guys they weren't afraid of. Dray screening is fine, but the guy ending up open with the ball has to be able to score. Whether it's Podz or Moody growing, or someone we acquire, this is the team's weak point.

Unless Utah wants to give Kuminga 30+ mil a year, only Clarkson at 33 years old would be a viable trade and that doesn't look like good value unless GS could get some draft assets. Sexton makes 19 mil (great contract but no chunky contracts to trade for him) and Collins ~27.

I kind of like Collins for us but he makes too much money.

You guys need a generic off-season thread for the team vs all these different threads about different things in... the off season.
