He is a really good shooter and they are desperate for shooting, but their best shot creators are Deni and Scoot.

Jrue could work for them but they REALLY need to get some shooters. They are another team I think should make a hard push for Lauri Markkanen. They could package Grant/Ayton and picks.

Wizards are going to pass us if they haven't already.

In the last 6 months they have traded Kuzma, Poole and Bagley and brought back Smart, Middleton and C.J. McCollum. Just changing the culture with real vets.

Now we are probably going to let them get the 3rd best player in the draft in Ace Bailey while we settle, they also have pick 18 in this draft. Just a matter of time.

NOP rolling with a starting lineup of Dejounte Murray, Jordan Poole, Trey Murphy, Zion, and Missi is definitely interesting. I'd be scared if I was an NOP fan, but feels like that would be entertaining to watch at least.

Wizards showing all the Hornets that it is possible to get better without moving at a glacial pace without totally leveraging your entire existence.

Spent less time at the bottom and gonna be back up sooner too.

Seems like an odd take to me - they actually made this trade to stay at the bottom at least for this season. Maybe their plan is to try to lure a big time FA next summer, something I don't recall them ever doing, but seems likely that they're going to end up playing the "take on salary for draft assets" game that we've been playing the last 12 months.

Hollinger:

Yes, it sets up the Wizards to have cap space in 2026. But there’s a short-term element in play too. For those who aren't following the script, the Wizards are pot-committed to being bad this year by virtue of the top-10 protected pick they owe the Knicks; the obligation will be extinguished after this season. Landing in the bottom ten (or bottom six, technically, to guard against lottery misfortune) shouldn't be a problem with this roster, but Washington isn't taking any chances.

Seems like anything negative towards the Hornets seems like a odd take to you.

Don't know why, but I'll play your game:

They've jettisoned the stupidity and bad contracts from their team (Beal, Poole, Kuzma, etc) and replaced them with veterans who are actually useful and good guys to have around a locker room (Brogdon, Smart, Middleton, CJ, etc)

None of which has hurt their long term outlook at all, while also making them a functional (professional) roster with a good mix of young and old.

Pair that with Sarr, Coulibaly, Champagnie, Carrington, George and suddenly they seem like a pretty solid roster with balance and positive outlook.

You posted a diametrically opposed take to what I saw analysts saying, so I mentioned it and shared the post. The Wizards are specifically not trying to get better this season, because they lose a FRP they really need if they do.

They have been accumulating expiring salary despite having zero history attracting marquee FAs and not being close to being ready to win. They are doing a hard reset, not gearing up to start winning.

It just does not compute to me to say they're trying to win and that's why they're trading for old, declining guys on expirings.

Shams:

BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

At what point did I say "they are trying to win"?

Brooklyn gets another first round pick in this draft. I'm betting they will move up tomorrow from 8. Whether that is 2, 3 or 4 who knows.

Problem is nobody has a need for 5 picks in one draft. What the hell is any team doing to do with that many rookies? More work would need to be done after the fact so trade partners are looking at two of them.

They probably devalued all those picks collectively because there's no way they're keeping them all

they have #36 as well lol

I would guess they trade 1 or 2, and use another 1 or 2 on a draft-and-stash Euro guy

Maybe the idea is to package multiples to trade up for an early teens pick, then package that and 8, maybe even 19, to get 3 or 4.

I don't think they have the horses for 2. And the Spurs downsized this draft for Fox at the deadline. They don't want a giant wave of rookies.

So it comes down to Sixers vs. Hornets.

Interesting because the Nets employed Peterson recently so with his good relationships there, maybe there's been progress on an offer to jump to 4 for Ace or Fears.
It has been written...
