Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
So with the spurs likely taking Dylan Harper and us being rumored to trading for him at the deadline thoughts on getting the much needed point guard.
Spurs get Suggs and Jett
Magic get Fox.
Spurs allow Harper to take the keys right away and give him a lock down defender next to him. They could move Vessel to SF and roll out a Harper, Suggs, Vasell, Sochan, Wemby lineup. That team then has a bunch of room to grow and compete right away.
Magic get a proven allstar PG in Fox who provides us the much needed play making at that position we have missed for years. We hopefully would have a contact extension in place and figured out before pulling the trigger. This could be a win-win for both teams. It would suck to lose Suggs but with his injury history and play style I’m worried we won’t get our moneys worth. This gives us a legit ball handler who can push the pace at an elite level. If he can keep improving his 3 Ball we are golden.
Thoughts?

Aren't we going to contend next season? You really wanna trust a rookie no matter how old to anchor our bench big offensive production?

If he is our 3rd C... you want a JI/Goga combo to score for the bench?

Orlando has 3 competent guards on the roster. Suggs, Bane, and AB (if you consider him one).
2 of those 3 guys are injury prone and will likely need someone off the bench to fill in for them.
NOW with that being said...under no circumstances do I think Jase Richardson or Walter Clayton should be the players to be coming in off the bench to take over starting roles to a team that is supposedly in contention right now.
You cannot convince me that having Paolo,Isaac, Caleb, and da Silva make sense on paper as dudes you are willingly paying as maximum depth at 1 (maybe 2) positions knowing the realities of back court rotation. The same can be said about paying 3 Centers (Moe will be back sooner than you think) with this in mind also.
That means likely that one of Isaac, Carter, or Goga are being moved for a guard(s) and Orlando is drafting their replacements. BPA doesn't make sense when we are talking about being 1 player removed from the rotation in the back court. Mosely isnt turning into Thibs in one offseason and the Magic are under cap constraints.
They’re going to sign a guard in free agency almost assuredly.

Absolutely. The talk of drafting Walter Clayton in the back end of the first round because we need a backup point guard reeks of Simmons 2.0 to me. Why in the hell would we in win now mode want a late 20s pick of a rookie to run pg on a win now team? It's the hardest position to develop.
The last 2 seasons we've had those guys in their 30s with years of experience to be looked up to and see the game with wisdom. Ingles a couple years ago and KCP last year as well as Gary Harris. They're gone now. Who's the oldest player on the team now?
We need to solidify the backcourt especially with Suggs and Banes history of missing games. It's also still questionable about the combo of them being able to handle the ball handling/facilitating roles of pg full time and who backups/ fills in for injuries? If it's win now or win in the next few years we build in a tiny bit of flexibility and trade WCJ and 25 in the draft for a center on a rookie scale deal(Joan Beringer) and roll with Goga and Mo and go after experience at pg in free agency.
My list:
Dinwiddie (last season played for 3.3 Mil.) go look at his production
Westbrook (last season played for 3.3 mil) go look at his production
Schroeder (last season played for 13 mil) go look at his production
None of those guys just sat on the bench and collected paychecks. They still have skills and all shoot well and can handle the ball. Hell I'd get 2 out of the 3 if we had enough cap space just for insurance on our starting backcourts injury history. Can you say Cole Anthony upgrade?

We definitely need at least one guy with sure handles...Bane and Suggs might do it through the regular season, but come playoff time, all weaknesses are magnified and targeted relentlessly. Even if just off the bench when things get dicey. I like all 3 of those guys.
And if we're talking 5th guard, you could do a lot worse than Gary Harris on a reduced rate (if he'll take it)...we know he defends and doesn't make mistakes - he just doesn't make a big impression, but for that role at that price? (after we find the ballhandler).

Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
With the rumor of Jokic not being guaranteed the sign his extension would we shock the world in a blockbuster.
Nuggets get Fran, WCJ, Jett and 25th pick.
Magic get Jokic.
Nuggets get a great retool to build around Murray, MPJ and Gordon. Murray, Franz, MPJ, Gordon and WCJ is still a really good team.
Magic get a MVP and Elite playmaker at center. We would be damn near impossible to stop with Jokic’s playmaking. Him and Paolo would be an amazing duo. Bane and Suggs would get so many wide open 3’s. Are defense would definitely regress but Jokic’s Elite offense would make up for it and then some. I love Franz but Jokic is one of the only players in the world I would do trade him for.
Suggs/Free agent/Cojo
Bane/Free agent
Black/TDS/Houstan
Paolo/Isaac
Jokic/Goga/Mo
We would definitely have to make some follow up trades to get some wing/guard depth but we could definitely get some ring chasers with a team like that.
Thoughts?

A contending team relying on a rookie backup C to heavily contribute? Im genuinely curious for examples. Im one of those who think even highly touted #1 picks cant contribute heavily right away to winning teams

Yeah unfortunately we can’t really trade any first’s right now after the Bane deal. So yeah probably not happening.

You won’t want to hear this but it is the truth; Jokic is worth more than every player on the ORL roster combined and every pick on top of that.
That’s not a knock on ORL. He’s an all time great in his prime and you want to steal him for pennies on the dollar.
How about Jerami Grant and a couple SRP for Franz.
No?

What's Brooklyn got up their sleeve now? An all in move for GA from Milwaukee? Big trade exception and a lot of picks in this draft. Does Claxton and the trade exeption with a bunch of picks jump start a rebuild for Milwaukee? Does GA in Brooklyn automatically make them contenders?

Yeah I guess I have seen too many trades in this league where you never get equal value for a star player. Luka just got traded for an aging AD, max christie and 1 first so spare me with the pennies B.S.

The Trailblazers have a really good team. They smoked us last season and made it look easy.
