Why is horford coming back to this team?

What purpose does that serve him?

IDK, I can see it either way. He left before, and it sucked. He came back and loved life. Kids, family are settled, etc. If he wants to play 2 more years, get a deal with a player option, see how JT and things look next summer.

Or, he says screw it I'm too old for this **** and bounces this summer. Either could happen.

Who **** cares

He’s a billion years old.

If our entire big man strategy revolves around him then Brad has **** lost the plot

KP's time in Boston was done soon as he was a mental and physical no show against the Magic and Knicks. On top of that, he was an expiring contract.

The issue is. Why does a man on his last leg, pushing 40 come back to a Celtics team that has no chance of winning it all.

It makes no sense for him or the Celtics.

Horford would be a great off the bench piece for a team who needs that one extra player.

He has no place on this roster if he wasn't already here.

If he just wants a place where he's comfortable and winning a championship isn't his goal then sure, he can play for the minimum and coast but it doesn't feel like that's where he's at right now.

Caveat to my caveat, lol. Could also just flip Niang and keep Hauser. Slightly less money, but probably enough still. $10.8M for both at 15 spots. Or don't pick up JD and have $13M to split with 14 spots. With 2-ways, I think 14 is fine even without Tatum.

They used to do it with 12 back in the old days...

I love how everyone thinks that JT/JB alone gets you a ring. Great, we’re under the second apron, now for the next five years. Back to the Brad Stevens coaching era of overachieving to get slaughtered in the 2nd & 3rd round. **** me

I too am furious about our roster for the next five years, especially since it's *checks calendar* the day before the 2025 draft.

Yeah, I mean those are the options. Not saying it's a strong possibility, but it's a possibility.

Yeah, I think Al should go ring chase somewhere else too. No reason for him to stay. We love him. We'll always love him. But it's over.

There’s no powerhouse in the East.

Bucks lost Dame. Pacers lost Haliburton. Cleveland, New York, Detroit and Orlando can be beat.

If Tatum can make a miraculous comeback for the playoffs, the Celtics could easily sneak into the Finals.

Even if he doesn’t, this team will still compete.

Just please don’t force me to watch Georges Niang in a Celtics uniform Brad.

Now time to dump Hauser and Tillman.

Niang will either be waived or glued to the bench. So you don't have to watch film on him.

Tom Westerholm‬:

The Celtics got themselves under the second apron in wildly not-ideal circumstances, didn’t give up any picks and picked up two rotation players in the process. Pretty good work honestly.

Chad Finn replying:

And they deserve credit for paying everyone and taking two runs at it, winning one, while knowing it would be brutal when the bills came due.

They used to call Ainge Trader Danny but Brad deserves that nickname more than him. Also please get Niang off this team immediately. I hate his game.

This trade impacts the center market.

Clint Capela already wasn't expected to return to Atlanta. This seals it.

The Celtics now need a center. They are a lot closer to being able to bring back Al Horford or Luke Kornet while staying under the second apron.

Yup. Bring back Al and Luke!

I bet Al has 2 more years left in him. Next year (the bridge year) and then he can help us win the 2027 nba title in his last season and ride off into the sunset with 2 NCAA titles and 2 NBA titles.

Luke still has some gas left in the tank as well. Both of them are a great fit here. Keep them!

The Boston Celtics are set to generate a $22.2 million exception for Kristaps Porzingis and a $4.7 million trade exception for Jrue Holiday.

If their goal was to make the finals next year then these last two trades don't happen.

That isn't their goal.
