as if Rodman wasn't already competing with Robinson and Hakeem in '90 and '91, while winning DPOY over both (Hakeem finished 2nd in '90 and Robinson finished 2nd in '91). I just clarified you and moved on. That's it. Have a nice day.[/quote]

Nah, I mean, again. Robinson was in his second season, so his rep wasn't there to quite the same strength as later. And while Olajuwon was right there in the running from 88-91. Also again, Rodman probably didn't deserve either of those DPOYs to begin with, because he was a wing version of like Sidney Moncrief. He was always more of a man-on defender than a team defender.

That said and regardless, having ONE competitor is very different than having three. Olajuwon was a 2-time DPOY guy, Mutombo 4 and Robinson won one as well. It's a very different story competing with all three of them at the same time (setting aside health and such) than it is with just one.

This is pretty obvious stuff.

Was Rodman better defensively than Sidney Moncrief during that time?

Also probably someone I should have included

As an actual defender? No. At some point, his defensive rebounding started to outpace rather significantly, so one might choose to factor that in, but in terms of playing defense? Nah, I don't think so, he just played different positions.

EDIT: Though his positional versatility is worth noting in the comparison.

Tony Allen? Unbelievable pest. No one plays Durant better
