Screwjob as usual from the replay officials in NY. There was nothing there to overturn the call on the field.

Springer sticks it to the umpires in NY; can’t steal that one away.

Well, that was a bullspit overturn, but that's a really big sausage from Springer there, so I'll take it.
Let's make it impossible for our bullpen to blow it, please.

Springer's resurgence this season is a huge positive.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Only Chad Green could blow this lead now

Thankfully Schneider would never let a reliever pitch across two innings.

Appears I spoke too soon, Schultz is now walking the worst hitter in the league in a 5 run game.

I love burning through half our pitching staff the game before an oft-injured starter plays his first game back from injury and isn't fully stretched out yet.
Tomorrow's going to be great.

Why use Yariel in this game and not just let Schultz finish the game

Had already got him warm in the previous inning due to Schultz being a mess, so he was already "used" for the day anyway.

Re: Jays 41-36 vs Indians 39-37 (Jun 24-Jun26)
A win is a win on this road trip. They need to get as far above .500 before the deadline as they can.
How about Eric effing Lauer? Kids stuff reminds me a lot of J.A Happ. With Tiedeman going down, they really needed another lefty to make their way into the rotation somehow.
Its not like this came out if nowhere either. He was actually pretty solid as an MLB SP in 2021 and 2022 for the Brewers. He was 18-12 over those 2 seasons with an ERA around 3.50 and a K/9 around 9. So just another solid under the radar move propelling this team this year. To go along with guys like Clement, Lukes (signed as a minor league FA in 2021), Straw ( thrown in as filler while trading for IFA money), Heineman ( waiver pick up), Little (Purchased for cash from the Cubs in 2023) and Fisher ( acquired for Biggio).
Thats over 25% of the current active roster, and those guys have really picked up the slack in the first half. No way they are over .500 right now without them.
While I realize things are going well, I think Springer has earned the right to lead off again.
Springer
Bo
Vladdy
Kirk
Barger
Clement
Lukes
Straw
Gimenez
The questions are… how long do they continue to run Gimenez out there everyday just fir defense, and what happens when Tony comes back? Do they DH a guy hitting under .180? I dont think they can trade either of them.

Lauer starts will always burn multiple relievers

Lauer starting had nothing to do with them going through three starters in less than two innings. That was a choice by Schneider (or yes, if you prefer, the analytic nerds. Whatever).

This Club.
So when Turnbull declines to go down to Buffalo, as is his right, we're going to pay him a million dollars for what, less than 8 innings of work? Great resource allocation.

25 pitches, but looked good. Assuming his pitch count is no more than 85 pitches (75 last time), so might only get 4 innings out of him.
Let's hope that Scherzer can surprisingly stay healthy the rest of the year.
