With the off-season upon us, the other thread is about done so we will start anew.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

He's probably would become washed the day he signs with us, but..... Al Horford? Could be a cheap intangible vet if we want to move away from BroLo?

I'd rather go after Achiuwa and/or Capela at the minimum or using the lower exceptions.

Would take him in a heartbeat. Still a winning player.

We should be calling the Hawks about Okongwu.

Horford wouldn't be a terrible 1 yr stop-gap, if we strike out or don't get a reasonable contract for our younger plan A's.

That would be excellent. I don’t see it though unfortunately, our assets likely aren’t enough but I guess you never know. Great idea nonetheless, Okongwu is a beast.

Why would they trade him?

Well, they just took on a huge contract at his position. Not something you do if you're committed to a player.

Maybe, but Okongwu is young and on a great contract plus they just cleared Mann's salary off their books. I think they keep him and can play both Bigs together at times.

However, Okongwu is the type of young player the Bucks should try to trade for if he was available. If he is not available, they have a TPE that would fit Kuzma's salary if the Bucks go after Barrett. I believe the Hawks showed interest in Kuzma over the last few years. That's probably a team he could excell with as a back up for Jaylen Johnson.

I’d want 11 plus both swaps and the Bucks first back for taking those two awful contracts.

I think it’s safe to assume Portland sees Jrue as a valuable asset to mentor Scoot and be Chauncey’s right hand man on the team. Awful contract? Yes. Easily attainable with assets on top? No.

That's fair, Grant did have a pretty bad season and he's 31. Jrue reportedly doesn't want to be in Portland. Dame gets to go home. Maybe there is something workable.

I really don’t like RJ and think he’s an awful fit next to Giannis, but if it’s Kuz for RJ, I’d probably do it. RJ has worked up to close to league average 3P% and he’s had a season above league average efg%. Would have done the same last season if not for a career low free throw %. Only 25 so much better chance he takes a small jump playing next to Giannis than Kuz does.

Plus, he becomes your SF, you can let GTJ walk, start AJG at SG, and use whatever amount from the MLE to keep KPJ. You’d still have the rest of the MLE and the BAE to grab a couple other guys to help the bench.
KPJ/Rollins
AJG/Kennard?
RJ/AJJ
Giannis/Smith
Portis/Sims

Definitely need to grab another forward since Doc won’t trust AJJ and Smith might not be a rotation guy.

I mean, it’s probably pointless because Billups is trying to save his job and the only way to do that is if they at least make the playin. So they probably plan to use Jrue in hopes they can have an good enough D to do that.

Personally, I’d offer Kuz+Pat for Grant/11/both swaps and Bucks first back. Taking on the extra salary for the assets. You can re-flip those first next offseason with Dame’s salary for something before Giannis signs his extension.
