Duke center Khalman Maluach

7”2 250lbs

Next to Matas, we’re blocking everyone and everything

Also the type of size, reach and length we need if we go forward with a Giddey/White backcourt.

If we stick and pick I'm on the Joan Beringer train. I believe in his upside more. I think he's the multiplier that the defense and Giddy needs.

Nique is my pet cat for this draft though.

A lob threat for Giddey in PNR unlocks something new in the offense.

A rim protector for the D will create more turnovers and easy buckets.

As we get closer my list in narrowing - Maluach,KJ would be best case scenario, Newell and Essengue would be back up plans if both others are gone and sticking at 12.

Anyone else and i'm losing faith, never liked Demin or Queen, Bryant and CMB are looking more bust then steal in my opinion.

Guys like Sorber, Berringer, McNeely, all look like decent prospects that would help Bulls and contribute but seem like a reach at 12 as well

6 points and 1 assist for Saraf in the loss today.

Not the game I was hoping for.

Forces a game 5 (best of 5) vs Bayern Munich on Thursday.

Maybe he just should have skipped like his teammate Essengue

Someone needs to convince me on KJ. Want to like him, but every time I see him play I’m left wondering what translates other than passing.

I kind of agree. I have KJ a tier ahead of the other guys who are possibly going to be there around our pick, including Maluach even.

Maluach, CMB, Essengue, Sorber, Beringer, Coward, Bryant, Demin, Queen, Newell, Richardson, Fleming, Kalkbrenner, Reynaud, Wolf, Clayton, Traore and Saraf all to me have different flags on them, but are actually close in value IMO. Some are more boom bust, some more safe but kinda limited upside, some have translation or size or athleticism questions, some have skillset / rawness questions, some re age… That is why I kind of want a trade down, barring KJ dropping (and or a low cost small trade up if needed to nab him). Take two swings on similarly ranked guys, rather than just one. If it’s the choice between, say, Maluach (kinda best case) vs. Beringer / Sorber / Newell + Saraf / Bryant / Coward or even a Clayton.. would kinda want to role with the 2 shots. Ditto CMB vs. that kind of pairing, etc.

This is a pretty good draft when it's all said and done. I think scattered all throughout the first round, you're going to find contributors - may not be a draft with a handful of superstars and the rest being duds, but I do think there are going to be players that are going to be starters and role players in the league for a very long time. I'm just hoping that our scouting team have done their homework, and we draft a player that is going to contribute and become a core piece to our team well into the future.
Why so serious?

Given that Jakucionis shoots 85%+ from the FT line, there is a lot of optimism about his shooting. 6'6 with good passing and good shooting gives him a solid floor with decent upside.

Pre injury 3 ball off the bounce and CS.

He will have gravity and be good in the PNR

First two months of the season he averaged

16, 5, and 5 on 49/41/86 shooting splits

then he dealt with some injuries he played through but that limited his play

His step-back jumper and dribble pulls-ups (self creating shots), playmaking, FTA Rate, BBal IQ are the things to like about him

ESPN currently has CMB mocked to us and jakucionis going one pick earlier to portland. giovany has been updating his mock a lot since monday, and i would assume it won't be finalized until tomorrow

I want to like CMB but I remain concerned after watching more of him. The Ole Miss game encapsulates my concerns in general. He scored 20 pts on 50% shooting and even hit a 3, but his misses show how he struggles against size and his limited range. He even misses an uncontested layup because he's too short (seriously).

If he's pick, I'll fully support him and pray AK surrounds him with 4 shooters to open up the paint for him. I know the NBA game has way more space than the college game in general which is a tremendous help for CMB.

I have no idea who we will end up drafting. Despite my strong takes, I literally know nothing. There's probably 10 guys that could be a legit possibility. I just have to say that I appreciate the discourse. It's been fun gentlemen.
