It seems like Brad isn’t done simply by how quickly they got under the 2nd apron. They didn’t have to do it ASAP if these were the only two moves they wanted to make.

They have to be moving one or two more guys now that salaries can be aggregated or else there wouldn’t have been any need to move quickly

I don't understand anything about these things but I assume they needed to finish the NBA financial year (or whatever it's called) under the 2nd apron. I think the cut-off date is around the corner, which would explain the rush. Plus the draft, plus creating space to sign players on July 1st, plus now being able to aggregate outgoing players when the trade show starts. (Probably half of what I just said isn't accurate.)

The Cs are a 2nd apron team for 2025.

Cut off date for that was last February.

What the Cs are doing now is for 2026.

Still early, but Kornet won't be coming back at this point. Someone will overpay him. Loved the improvements Kornet back as a back up but he will struggle if he is asked to start.

According to reports earlier, Kornet is not about the money.

He loves it in Boston, so I think he stays for a reasonable contract.

If the reports are coming from Kornet or his agent, then maybe.
If Boston offers Kornet 2 years/$11 million and another team offers him 3 years/$34 million, we will see what Luke chooses.

And Kornet should take the 3 $34M. Hell. Brad would rescind offer and make Luke take that money. These guys aren’t about to take advantage of someone that much.

Also, consider this from a player perspective. Owners don’t have to have a salary cap. They want it. So, why should a player to take less to make it cap friendly when if there was no cap the owners would have no issue paying the player his salary?

People are mad LeBron gets his $50M when he doesn’t need it. Why should the owners expect LeBron to have his $50m go to someone else, but the owner doesn’t have to pay. It gets the benefit.

Essentially, LeBron is paying the salary when he takes a discount, not the owner. That’s silly since the owners are still more wealthy .

If you're going to move JB or DW you optimize for best possible deal. That might not be now. That might be July. Or August. Or October.

They may, I hope we don’t. He is fine as 6th man.

I think starting him, barring changes to the roster, is a great idea. He's on a great contract and if he can put up numbers he becomes a really nice trade asset if moves need to be made. I don't think the team will be as bad as some people seem to think but if they are and Payton doesn't do that great it's not like keeping him on that deal is a poor value either, he's underpaid and locked up until 27-28. He really played some solid defense as last season when on, I think it's time to let him loose.

I hear you, but I think he’s better as our heater against other benches. He’ll get plenty of minutes either way, so I’m not pressed, but I just hope we keep him as the only offense we got from our bench last season.

If people think we lost talent from the starters, then we’ll open up a bigger hole on the bench where most of the time all we had was Pritch last season. He’s already proven he can get his from the bench, no adjustment there. I don’t want to put someone less qualified when we’re already starving.

Yeah, that's fair and what I said is definitely based on what we have which is highly unlikely to be what we start the season with. I like Simons better as the microwave bench scorer kind of guy as I don't want to see him defending starters too often, I think PP has a more complete game if we are aiming to win next season. He's definitely a better distributor, Simons just has a less efficient but slightly more diverse offensive attack.

And by not trading JB, that means the Cs will try to compete and win as many games as possible.

Cap also goes up every year. lol.

luxury tax is $178m and the second apron is $188M for 2024-25.

That goes up every year based on a formula.

They need to shed salary another $10M or so. But they are gonna be fine.

It’s like we were playing without Porzi anyway, we were winning without him every single time.

Depends on what Simons can bring, we’re currently only down Jrue (the idea of him from the cup run).

Al and Korny will be known later, so can’t really say.

We really aren’t much different than last season before injury. Yes, we’re down Tatum, this same team was good without him (won without Jrue too IIRC). Just stay good until he comes back a month or so before the playoffs.

I never said we’ll win or get to the chip, I’m just not counting us out and thinking will be trash. We haven’t done much of anything that tells me we are much worse. Much worse than the chip team? ABSOLUTELY, but that was what we were last season anyway.

I know what some of you are saying, I heard you, I’m just not listening right now.

I really want to know what has changed from last season, so far? What have we lost?

I would rather us be trash than roll around with this mid as **** roster for years to come.

Who gives a **** about winning games next year

So you want to trade brown? Like, with Tatum here, you better have a player that is as good as Brown here. You can’t sacrifice Tatum’s career by not having a good enough no. 2. You need players that are as good as Brown or project to be better in 2026-27 when Tatum returns full strength.

Not opposed. But I don’t want to bring in Amen Thompson only to have to pay him more than Brown is being paid when his contract is up.
