Well I mean Giannis was a twig when he got drafted too

Yea just let him develop into a three. Keep him slim and mobile.

But he has no on-ball game and can't shoot!

Sigh also look like guys who prefer layups to destroying the rim

I think people are forgetting how Masai made multiple trips to France this year to scout.

Its 100% a real possibility

Anyone else feel pretty good with whatever way we seem to be likely to go?

Unless of course they go completely ofg the grid and draft someone unexpected

I hope Kon drops if Noa is taken before us. Nets could also just be doing it to get us to trade up.

he's a lock to charlotte. only him and tre worked out for charlotte lol everyone else skipped
Yeah but teams draft guys who haven't worked out for em all the time. It doesn't really say THAT much imo. Including for us.

Essengue remids me of a slightly bigger but way less skilled Batum, so I guess the old man version of Batum. I watched his long form scouting vid: Pro: mostly played within himself, doesn't look as out of place as a guy like Bruno. Con: I didn't see a lot of ceiling plays or even flashes, he's very limited. I think I would pass in the top 10.

I know throw him in the g league as the number one. Focus on handles number one which will help him open up his offensive game and slowly work on shooting. It's a longterm project player, I won't expect anything crazy from him until year three.

There's a huge difference in the force Giannis played with even then. You either have it or you don't. I think best case is an Ingram type but he has a very low baseline as a starting point right now

Ya Noa is built like Jamario Moon, or perhaps Durant?

Not comparing the 2, only saying guys can put on size and most will get bigger and stronger

This is either the biggest smokescreen ever from the Raptors, or they did not do a good job hiding their Essengue interest.

dont think they need to hide, there is a clear top 7 and they clearly like both essengue and Malauch

Considering how secretive they have tried to be about their draft process since their interest in GIannis got leaked back in 2013 (I read it in a story about Bruno, apparently the Giannis thing contributed to how secretive Masai was about his Bruno interest the next year), I'm honestly having a hard time believing they got exposed like this for Essengue.
I agree in some ways but they can't control who this kids publicly comparing himself too either :)

I see Obi Toppin. Essengue and Beringer remind me of Obi Toppin at the time he was drafted. Obvious Obi has since started shooting 3s and he's been extremely useful off the bench for Indy (especially these playoffs). I don't hate the possibility that he's the pick. Maluach is still my preferred guy though.

Noa is Noa you just try to build him the B.I and KD mold and that first starts with his handles. Better handles would atleast let him put the ball on the floor and attack the basketball and just work your self out from there.

i'm not high on him eiither but trust in masai. i think you see the ball hawk perimeter defense from indy and okc so noa can project to be that.

This is something you do with a late first or second round pick, not in the lottery! He's shown nothing to indicate he has any kind of future as an on-ball player. His best bet is to study Shawn Marion, pick up a consistent corner three, stop with the gambling for steals, learn to play with more bend to stay in front of smaller players, and commit to using his length more on defence (for all the talk about wingspan and standing reach, he does a poor job helping his team defend the basket). The juice is not worth the squeeze, especially not at 9 IMO.
