Re: ATL - Zinger to Atlanta
He also played young guys a lot basically every team he's ever coached lol. The young guys he didn't play generally didn't play because they were bad basketball players.BroncoBuck wrote:CJTURT wrote:jakecronus8 wrote:WTF is Brooklyn gonna do with 4 late 1sts?
WTF would we do with any of those picks. We can’t develop any of them. And we have a crappy old pubic head coach Who won’t play young players.
I know this keeps being thrown out there, but AJ Green got a ton of minutes last year. Ryan Rollins played a ton for a guy who started the season as a 2 way contract.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Honestly I feel bad that Jrue will be stuck in Portland. He got paid a lot so it will be easier to overcome. Both the Bucks and Celtics trading him without telling him first is strange.

I don’t understand the whole "without telling him" thing.
Did Jrue find out on TV or something?

+ AJax started 43 games

I was super confused at first but McCollum being an expiring made it click.
I'm actually reasonably interested in Alex Sarr. His efficiency was a mess, but he (was) 19 and the skills were definitely there. I kinda feel like they've done a good job clearing out the knuckeheads (Poole...and Kuzma <melting_face>) so he can learn from some solid, former-AS vets. I'll be pretty intrigued to see what they do with the cap space, especially if he shows some solid improvement this year.
They've got a long way to go, but if I was a Wizards fan I could squint toward the future and hype myself up relative to what I'm used to.

I think they'll end up rerouting Jrue to a contender at some point.

i think it was definitely easier than many thought. on the other hand, they played their cards extremely well and had assembled an absolute juggernaut and got one ring out of it against a very weak playoff schedule. now there is no guarantee that they will ever get back with the Tatum/Brown core.

Re: ATL - Kyrie 3/$119 million extension
Boston has to try and move on from Brown. Their "all pro 6" has essentially been reduced to 2 and hoping for a 39 year old Al Horford to retain his form on a team where he's their only big. Boston went from potential dynasty to afterthought in exactly one season. Crazy.

Celtics new owner was planning to slash salary before Tatum got hurt. They were never going to run it back next season.

Before the injury, I had my popcorn ready for a contract showdown with kyrie demanding the max. Somehow the deal seems fair to both sides.

The Tatum injury made the decisions easy for Boston. They were able to trade whatever limited value Jrue and Zinger had left. I wonder what would’ve happened if they made the finals again.

New owners and the second apron penalties means they were always going to sacrifice Jrue and KP to duck the second apron. Now if they made the finals and Tatum is healthy, maybe they try to talk Big Al into staying around on a really cheap deal and consider keeping Hauser around. I’m assuming they still plan to dump Hauser and will let Kornet walk if he gets an offer above the minimum.
I assume they have no issues now feeding minutes to some of the younger end of bench guys to see if anyone can turn into a rotational player for the following season, which is something they might not have done if they made the finals again.

I think the new front office has basically done all the right things so far but it doesn't change that it's a depressing team to watch at the moment. Some intriguing young guys for sure but I'm not sure any of them have shown enough yet to be confident that they're long term building pieces. I like Sarr, Bub, George, Coulibaly, etc. in their own ways but they all still seem like a pretty good ways off from being legitimately helpful players.
