Sexton is nice. But it depends on what Danny Ainge will be asking for him.

So the Mavs has extended window up to 3 years. This is good sign. Everyone is on the same page. I wonder what PJ is trying to do. Is PJ afraid to guard smaller players ? That's the question I have 8n mind.

I think the Mavs should try to shed some salaries while looking for draft day trade. Get a good combo guard and shed some salaries to make rooms for potential DLive's extension should be the focus with sparing pieces who may rarely play being sent out.

I think Kyrie wants to recruit someone with a little more cap room. The Mavs could offer more than both LA teams. Am I getting it right?

The best case scenario is perhaps PJ, Hardy and OMax with a 1st and a 2nd for Herb Jones, Olynyk and Avocado. The Mavs could afford to trade future 1st now if they don't bother to pay extra taxes retaining Lively. Getting Herb makes tons of sense. Then, you can praying for a good free agent signing with MLE. Coaching staff has become growing concern though. Does JJ Barea want to come back as offensive coach?

C - Lively / Gafford / Powell
PF - Davis / Olynyk / Kai?
SF - Flagg / Marshall / Klay
SG - Herb / Christie / BWill
PG - Kyrie / CP3 / Avocado

I am wondering if they try to somehow ship Klay. Would need the cap space anyway

Reading the tea leaves, they are targeting a PG with the TPMLE and calling it an off season.
Lively/Gafford
AD/PJ
Flagg/Marshall
Klay/Martin
TMPLE/Christie

With Powell, Williams, Hardy and Prosper warming the bench and Kyrie rehabbing.

One of Marshall/Martin needs to go IMO, they simply have no place in rotation.

I think NOLA will value Gaff more than PJ because they will have Jamison and Zion taking most of the forward minutes. They do not have a center. They even sent Olynyk to Washington.

Heh, don't be too happy he was looking for insane money, it just was pure luck for Mavs that he got seriously injured.

The Dallas Mavericks have only offered Kyrie Irving long-term deals worth LESS than $40 million per year, per @ShamsCharania
“If there is no long term deal today it is because Kyrie Irving has deemed the Mavs have offered well below market value.”

Shams says before the ACL injury he was expected to get a 3-4 year $50-60 million per year deal

And also as expected, Mavs are now looking for a playmaker.

[Shams] The Mavs are expected to open up the $5.7 million taxpayer midlevel exception by signing Irving to this deal, sources said. Potential targets for that salary slot would have included Dennis Schroder, D'Angelo Russell, Chris Paul and Malcolm Brogdon, sources said.

It is what it is now, so I'm happy.

Can't overthink all the what ifs, or this thread's going to a thousand pages. It's likely that that's Kyrie's last big NBA contract. So I'm happy for the guy. His stay here has been way nicer than how it was in BKN or BOS.

The way Kyrie was playing pre injury, the discussion would have been if it's 4 or 5 years of full max...
I'm happy at the current contract, I'm not happy he was lowballed, he has a history...

If Boston is now under the 2nd apron, is an AD for Jaylen Brown trade legal? If so, would either side do it?

I'd love it for the Mavs

I'd do it. AD for Brown is a win for Dallas.

They are not going to have to worry about Lively’s contract for 2 years.

When you look at the type of players the Mavs have and they really need a PG that’s good at running the P&R. The Mavs have more lob threats than any other team in the league. Of the guys available (for $5.7M) who is the best P&R guard? That’s without a doubt Chris Paul. So that’s who I would want.

Keep an eye on Gafford though. They signed him to an amount that allows him to still be traded. The Mavs won’t have to wait to trade him. I think if the Lakers were to offer Reaves and a 1st for Gafford the Mavs would do that deal.

I read yesterday that teams are really interested in Caleb Martin. Not sure how interested but Mavs are fielding calls for him.

There was a tweet that popped up in my feed, I think it was a joke, he was terrible last year, really unplayable.

I hope going forward we'll have and keep a strong and consistent core of coaches. Our future depends on it.

The ownership and Nico seem to not have much common sense.

As a Mavs Hawks fan, what do you think of a deal centered around AD for Jalen Johnson?
How much would need to include in addition to Jalen Johnson?

The exception is that Jalen is a future Al-Star.
