Re: 2025 Offseason Trade and Free Agency Thread (The Fun Never Stops Edition)
The Celtics could have gotten something better for Porzingis, but those options were not feasible considering the prime purpose of this roster transformation was getting below the second apron.
No doubt teams out there were offering more. But those potential trading partners all have fear of apronitis too. No one wants to take on tons of salary. A Porzingis trade elsewhere would have only resulted in minimal cap savings of about what the Holiday deal did.
The only player at the table who could deliver a clean rip-off-the-bandaid massive cap savings was the Nets. With them included that meant no other suitable bidders, and the return was going to diminish. (All those imaginary four team Fanspo trades were clearly not available.)
If the Celtics had saved only 5-6 million or so on the trade, that would mean still more very painful deals including giving up future draft picks to get rid of guys, no flexibility, no leverage, few options, for sure no Horford or Kornet, and on and on.
Boston dumped a big salary in one move, accomplished what they most needed to, and ended the earliest stage of the makeover.

Any type of Spurs deal is tempting revolving that number 2 pick. But we also have to give it up to Ainge for how hard a feat he actually pulled off. What if he picked Kris Dunn and Josh Jackson with those picks? Thats why I am hesitant to trade Brown for a pick, it’s hard to nail that pick.
Unless his name is Cooper Flagg, but it ain’t happening.

Bos gets Giannis
Spurs get JB
Bucks get #2 pick, #14 pick, Vassell, and Keldon
There is no way the Spurs take JB and let us take Giannis unless they are also getting White or 4-5 first round picks. Just zero chance.
If they're not content with Wemby, JB, and Fox as the Big 3 then so be it.
It's not like the Celtics are desperate to trade JB.

I agree.
But some of the Cs fans keep insisting JB should be traded.
I don't think Brad is trading JB and White.
But trading Sam will allow the Cs to keep Kornet.

I’m more than happy them sending out Hauser. I don’t know if this was ever talked about but I haven’t looked at him the same since that puking incident at the parade that allegedly happened.
Trade him by tonight and replace him with Baylor.

JB won't be traded.
Anything is possible with White IMO. If Stevens has a target in the draft and White can get that pick than I wouldn't be surprised or upset. I trust Stevens.

Now Brad needs to get lucky with draft.
We need someone who can add from day 1 because we wont have the luxury of 60 mil that went out to build around JT/JB/Dwhite

Not happening.
Not without a top 3 pick tonight anyway.

I trade JB before I trade White. White is a trump card at his skillset/versatility/contract. He goes with everything.
I love JB but him being a 2nd supermax causes issues. Even if Brown is a tier ahead of White, I'm taking White on his contract and seeing if we can't find our way to finding a cheaper option than JB with the assets we get back.

With Niang and Baylor on board, it's time to capitalize on Sam Hauser's value.
PP and Hauser are on good deals. I would keep them.
Simons on the other hand I would try to reroute if it gets me a starting big.
That's favoring the Celtics.
A number of Celtic fans keep saying Simons is bad.
So why would any team give up a starting big for an alleged bad player?
I personally like Simons, but he's a bit redundant with PP here.

Based age, White turning 31 next month, if Toronto see's themselves as a contender and willing to trade #9, 27' 1st for White I'd pull that trigger. At the 9 spot draft Sorber or Queen. Frontcourt has an anchor for the next bunch of years.

Re: 2025 Offseason Trade and Free Agency Thread (The Fun Never Stops Edition)
Shams report of them listenting is kind of telling. They’re listening for someone who wants to trade draft capital for him.
The bucks aren’t going to come to us and offer Giannis. Brad isn’t calling them either, apparently.
So the Brown rumors will end after the draft tonight.

If Brown was making a little less, it would be no way. Once again though, the CBA strikes. It's chronically constricting to have two supermax salaries in this environment.
Trading Brown is remotely possible. Everyone can imagine deals that they'd say, "OK, woah yeah, I'd trade him for that." Brad and Zarren can too, and they've told other teams what the price is. If someone's crazy enough to cough up, they'd go for it.

No.
PP is not explosive and not really a finisher on fast breaks.
It will be a 3-guard rotation, White, Simons, and PP.
Not redundant at all.
Simons is basically unguardable 1 on 1.

You already forget about the reports saying KP was garnering interest around the league hours before he was traded for a bag of ****?
His agent was like "get the reports out quick he's getting traded for a bag of ****!!!"

What is Sham going to do? Come out on television and say I got nothing? Sham makes stuff up all the time. He is not the only one. They are very careful with their words. Shams is saying stuff like teams are getting offers and are listening. Basically saying absolutely nothing. Got to keep up the interest

Damn that stinks. Kind of an annoying CBA to deal with. What’s the point of drafting well and paying your homegrown talent? What is the league trying to achieve by doing this?

The timing of Brads deals getting under the 2nd apron are interesting.
He’s wasted zero time.

Yes Simons is a superior offensive player. That's why I think he could theoritically bring us a quality big.
Also, how would a PP and Simons backcourt combination look defensively?
I'd rather keep Simons, but Brad must draft a good big tonight (and there are a few options in our range), or trade for one. I'd be pissed if we go into next year with Kornet/Al/Queta at the 5.
