Mavs dump salary Kings/Hawks

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:53 pm

So Mavs deal Marshall to Kings and Thompson to the Hawks. Both taken in via exceptions.
Kings send 26 CHA 2nd/27 SAC 2nd to Hawks

Kings get a wing they like for a couple of 2nds
Hawks get a vet shooter on the wing (especially nice if they move Niang/Mann for KP) while picking up a couple of higher upside 2nds especially that Charlotte one.
Dallas clears some apron room to make a stronger play at a PG in free agency.

Does the KP trade kill this for ATL? Fine with it from Sac's end.

Nope, I posted it part in anticipation of it. Mann is gone opening up wing minutes. And they still have plenty of room under the tax and Stein/Fischer reporting they are planning to use that TPE this off-season to add talent. Probably not Klay obviously, but was trying to add a useful player and get them assets.

maybe. We saw Jrue and Poole move at higher than expected valuations so I don't know anymore.

But with the Kyrie deal, Dallas doesn't have as pressing of a need for this, so would probably just do the Kings part in that case and keep Klay. Or just skip this all together. Another Chuck deal posted 2 hours before irrelevancy lol.

Yeah, the Kyrie made this one a bit unnecessary.

Think both the two teams involved consider their deals though, so if Dallas did decide to go after a player whose team wanted some cap savings… you could build this into it?

Like Dallas could add seconds and send Hardy to Boston for Simons in the OP... or a Jrue deal. Or etc..

was comparing with the Mann/22 dump... so probably owes more 2nds if not a late 1st instead of all the 2nds

Eh... I mean the idea would be Atlanta wanted him as a player too. Plus its a year less. I don't think Atlanta gets involved at all unless they wanted Klay Thompson. So they wouldn't be seeing him as just a pure salary dump. I agree if it was that, the cost would be more.

But again moot now lol
