Re: 2025 Draft Thread
I wonder why it would make sense for MKE to trade any future picks to acquire more picks in this draft. Doc hasn't shown much interest in investing in rookies nor has Horst shown the ability to do much in the draft.
If MKE can buy a pick or two and draft "older" rookies to fill out the bencj, go for it, but to trade up into the first using 2031 first seems crazy based on Doc and Horst.

Re: 2025 Draft Thread
Probably will be a boring night for us either way. The next one is going to ironically hold all the excitement for us. But if we stayed at 47, that'd still be extremely dull. Hopefully they move up into the 30's one way or another to nab a prospect instead of a suspect.
Carrying over an issue from another thread - how much should fit w/ Giannis play a part in the selection still? Cuz I look at Adou Thiero, and if he develops an outside shot, he's just OG Anunoby. But IDK if we have the luxury of hoping for that development OG made.

I just saw a big board that had Chucky Hepburn in the 60's and implied he was a late-2nd round candidate, in case you guys needed to know how historically bad this 2nd round class looks lol. Will be very frustrated if we just sit at #47.

YKN from Penn State is my guy, that’s who I’m holding out a slim hope for even though I doubt he makes it even close to 47.

after doing some actual research for the first time over the last two days I don't think it's thaaaaaat bad like I originally thought
the 8-16 range is pretty weak, but the 20-40 range seems very deep
40+ looks like a crapshoot and I def agree about wanting to move up tho
the one guy I'd be thrilled with that could be around at #47 is Sion, would also be happy enough with Zikarsky

kinda like a poor man's jarrett allen, would be thrilled with him at 47 but I don't see him falling past 40

I relatively like some of the guys in the 20-40 range, but that's mostly because I don't like some of the guys in the teens. Still, feels like there's an opportunity to get a pretty good player in the 20s if we can get there.

I don't think Sion falls anywhere near us, and Kalkbrenner likely going in the first round is still pretty wild to me. Maybe the valuations of these prospects really is just all over the place, cuz if a guy like Jase Richardson actually falls to the 20's, I'm doing everything I can to grab a 1st round pick to use on him. But I think any pick after 35 is especially worthless. All the intriguing/young international guys will likely be gone (Yang, Markovic, Penda) and you're basically just picking between whatever JAG 5th year senior with sub-NBA physical tools that you can talk yourself into. The NIL stuff really has knee-capped the depth of this class.

Think he is closer to Brook, one of the most athletic guys in the draft

I see him as super similar to Sims but haven't seen a ton of him and am probably just doing the Big Man Jump High thing.

Yeah I agree 100%. Even by default, there were a lot of drop outs so the 1s that stayed will naturally get a bump in target range. YKN was semi realistic at the very beginning of the draft process but now I see him firmly in the 25-35 range. He would be a perfect Jericho Sims replacement immediately with potential for more. Sims we know what he is and it’s fine but I’m not giving him any type of significant long term raise when he’s 2nd round pick level replaceable.

Re: 2025 Draft Thread
Reminder, not that I’m outright advocating for it, but it’s draft day:
There’s usually 1 future all-star drafted between 10 and about 20 every year, and there’s probably typically 3-4 players who are worth more than their draft position one year later from that same range.
I wish we had Memphis’s eye for talent, but maybe Horst is due.

To be fair, Sims isn’t a terrible comp but from an eye test I’d say YKN is better in space and also has more potential for a better offensive game outside of rim running which is all that Sims is useful for. Super similar isn’t that far off. 1 is 23 in March and 1 is 27 in October so 4yrs from now it’s easier for me to see YKN as a better pro than Sims if that matters at all.

Re: 2025 Draft Thread
Definitely some players in here that I feel more confident in my opinions on than others, but I think this is where I'm ultimately landing on my big board for this year, with some notes for some of the players that I'm significantly higher/lower on than consensus.

I don't expect much, but it would be nice to hit on our pick AND KEEP THE PLAYER.

would need some agent-schenanagans for sion to fall
I'd put it at like a 10% chance he's there
everyone else I like more is at 0% tho
