If Dallas is going to sign a PG thru FA they might be better off chasing Brogdon or even Dennis as Kyrie fill ins. Brogdon hasn't been a pillar of health himself but DLo doesn't seem the type to fit the Dallas defense culture that Nico apparently wants there.

Who is to say they haven't pursued the others and this is the only guy who has mutual interest? Of course Dallas would never tamper so this is all theoretical of course.

Another report (Windhorst) saying Celtics are getting top-10 offers for Jaylen and Derrick.

After all the whispers of the Spurs and Celtics talking, it seems like there could be genuine smoke. No idea what it is or isn’t but something has to be ongoing.

Phoenix, maybe New Orleans would any other top 10 teams want those guys? Can't see Phoenix being able to without including Beal to some 3rd team though.

I will be legitimately angry if the Spurs trade the #2 pick for anything the Celtics have to offer. Just take Harper and let him and Wemby grow together

Boston had the best team in the league and realized they showed trade off due to their star getting hurt.

Dallas had a top 3 player and made the finals. Traded him for an older worse player. Then their star got hurt. Then they won the lottery in maybe a good year to win it.. And then went after DLO.

Rockets are on a roll. Can’t believe FVV is re-signing at that number. Figured he would get at least 3/90

Wow pretty good deal for the Rockets - annual salary is right about where I thought it should be (but granted I am usually way low on my estimates). I thought it would be more like 4 yrs $100M.

Exactly. Figured he was going to get guaranteed more. Doesn’t make sense to decline $45M for one year to sign for $50M over two! That’s crazy. They must have had this worked out when he signed the deal initially. Just wild. Rockets on a roll.

It'd have to be for the taxpayer exception of $5.7m, no? Russell seems pretty good value for that salary. :dontknow:

It is, but if Lakers couldn't live with him as a starting PG Mavs also wouldn't, they need much better play maker than him, I'd even say Tyus would be better.

I don't know? LA was hoping he'd be their long-term starter and felt that he wasn't that at $31m, and $17.3m, respectively. But Dallas would just need him to help steady the position for up to 1 season (likely a little less)? And at less than $6m? Just feels like the stakes are different and the much cheaper salary and limited options makes him MUCH more palatable?

Yeah, Houston managed the "placeholder huge salary" insanely well.

FVV unlocked the MLE for Houston. NAW, come on down.

The only thing I have on that front is that stylistically, DLo is a poor man's Kyrie, so if Kyrie comes back, after the deadline, the rest of the team isn't being asked to make a big adjustment.

I don't understand anyone offering a top 10 for White.
From the Spurs though, I could see an offer of Johnson, Fox, #14 for Brown (if there were a way to make it legal).

That is absolutely what the Spurs should do.

Then trade for one...
If the best option at TPMLE isn't good enough, don't build on it.
Kyrie will miss at least 50 games, if not more, and he alone wasn't enough.

There is a rumor that Jazz gave a promise to pick Ace Bailey at #5, and he wants to play for the Jazz. This is the reason he shut down other workouts, including Philly.
