Imagine having 5 picks in the 1st round of a 30 team league, and the average of all 5 selections is... the 20th pick.

Remember, these are the same people who used to go out of their way to shout down the value of the Knicks draft pick assets.[/quote]

Imagine being able to draft SGA or Halliburton when you need a PG, Duran when you had an injury prone center, or Bridges or Jalen Williams but pissing on, I mean passing on them all.

Never exciting to be a Knick at draft time.

It's legitimately funny because of how bootleg it looks, but I don't hold it against them - it's simply the city they're from. And you know what, it's actually kind of dope that the league MVP who just won a chip is walking the street high fiving fans standing 2 deep at the championship celebration. The quaintness and lack of production/quality is charming if you look at the right way.

But I will say this - I was at the Rangers parade in '94 after they won for the first time in 54 years. Me and somewhere between 1 and 2 million other people - literally. There were well over a million people in attendance, after they anticipated 500k. And I can tell you that I've never felt anything like that before or since. The crowd was 100+ deep everywhere along the parade route, and you could barely see anything because there was a non-stop downpour of ticker tape, and that just the visuals. The sound was the part that sticks with me the decades later. I took the train to the WTC (still blocks away from the parade route, for those not familiar with the city), and as soon as I got up the stairs out of the station the air was vibrating with sound - mostly a million plus people chanting LETS GO RANGERS - and the ground was shaking. I mean you could actually feel a foreign movement of some sort underneath your feet. I decided to go last minute, so I was late and couldn't get even remotely close to the actual parade, but with over a million euphoric people sending a cacophony of sound bouncing through The Canyon of Heroes, you didn't even need to see anything to get what was happening. Here's how a Rangers beat writer at the time described it the next day in the paper:

It was magnificent, shooting gargantuan holes in that old theory that there are 18,200 hockey fans in New York and they go to every game," Carpiniello wrote. "The official police estimate had the crowd at more than a million people, screaming, dropping tons and tons of paper from windows and rooftops from Battery Park to City Hall, and creating a quake sensation in the shadowy canyon between the skyscrapers."

"The roar," Carpiniello continued, "made Madison Square Garden's game-night din sound like a squeak. The players had their breath stolen. They loved it."

On one of the floats, Rangers goalie Mike Richter turned to captain Mark Messier and said: "I hope we get a flat tire so we can stay right here."

That was the only other team that captures the entire city in a way even remotely close to what the Knicks do when they're good, and this season will be the 53rd since their last championship, I believe. Seeing that video of OKC's celebration, and experiencing the Rangers parade that ended a lengthy championship drought, only makes me smile inside imagining what a Knicks version would be.

I can vouch for Sharpe. Decent finisher and rebounder, can make an occasional 3. Big frame. We could do a lot worse for a 3rd string C.

I dunno anything about Watford.

Very smart to clear off their books in a transition year.

I would trade Brown honestly because he's a pervertbecause his contract is just so ridiculously large but Tatum probably would object

I have never experienced what it's like to see any of my teams go through a parade and all I want to do before I turn into plant food is to witness it once in New York... just once.

Just thinking about that moment makes me think of the final scene in Pursuit of Happyness when at the end, Will Smith's character, Chris, gets the job. Just brings tears of happiness to my eyes.

I don't know what i would so with myself if that moment became real, but I'm so looking forward to it.

Fans of historical winning franchises really are spoiled.

Marc Stein
@TheSteinLine
More on this topic: Dallas is now regarded as a leading suitor for D'Angelo Russell, sources tell

@TheSteinLine.
The Mavs can make a free agent run at Russell because Kyrie Irving's new deal has a lower Year 1 salary than his $43M player option.

Kyrie and FVV taking less money due to apron restrictions across the league might work in our favor when it comes to Mikal and Mitch's extensions

I don't love Sims, but he has already played 191 NBA games in 4 years and the Bucks saw enough value to trade for him and play him 12 mpg in the playoffs.

So for a late 2nd round pick, he might have exceeded expectations. If he gets an NBA contract this summer, that's more than most 58th picks accomplish.

If we move up to the early 30’s, we’ll get talent. Hope it happens.
LA just moved up for cash.

They drafted those guys because they slid due to injury. They haven't really overcome those issues just yet. McCullar is a 2mil cap hold so. No guarantee he even comes back. Huk is a team option, might not be back either.

Adou Thiero. That's who I want. One tweet of a few clips is all I need to see. He's the guy!! OG with offense and handles and springs in his shoes.
