Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 3
I’m prob in the monitory but would be down to ship herro and bam for Jaylen brown and other pieces
I’m high on brown and think he can be a top 5-10 player as a feature player and bam will never be that

I've been one of the biggest proponents of a Sexton/John Collins trade but strategically it doesn't make sense anymore. Only way you do it is if you think that's enough of a team to get us a top 5 seed next year. I think the FO has given continuous signals they don't believe in Herro and Bam like that.
I think the idea is if we're not tanking, at least give Herro and Bam something, anything to work with. So we're looking at the same aim, be a 5th seed. Team didn't even have a productive 8 man rotation last year.

Herro and Bam + likely more assets for Brown with no handles. We would be worse off they we are right now.
Brown as your no 1, could work. It would have a situation like Celtics or Pacers. A deep team, that has multiple playmakers and multiple players that can create your own shot.
His handles are worse than Herro but he's a better scorer because he's more physical and can drive to the rim. But those handles would be a severe limitation if he was a given a lot of responsibility to score and create for others. And he's never been the best playmaker, Herro is better than him in that regards and Herro isn't an elite playmaker

A great deal for Houston. IMO this is a big signal of where contracts are going for most players.

Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 3
The Heat is believed to be exploring trades for veteran forward Andrew Wiggins, who was acquired by Miami in February as part of the Jimmy Butler deal. Wiggins has two seasons left on his contract, as he’s due $28.2 million this upcoming season and has a $30.2 million player option in the 2026-27 season.
Dealing Wiggins for an expiring contract or a player with a cheaper 2026-27 salary would help get the Heat closer to having max-level cap space in the 2026 offseason.
Guard Terry Rozier is another Heat player who could be included in a trade. Rozier is entering the final season of his current contract, as he’s due $26.6 million this upcoming season before becoming a free agent next offseason.
The Heat could also put the 20th pick in today’s first round in a trade. One reason the Heat could choose to deal this year’s pick is to free up additional tradeable future first-round selections, according to a league source.
It’s also worth noting that The Athletic’s Anthony Slater reported Wednesday that the Heat has “legitimate Johnathan Kuminga interest, per league sources, among others expected to explore the idea [of a sign-and-trade] as the market materializes.”
The Heat has some level of interest in Kuminga, but is currently exploring other potential moves, according to a league source.

Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 3
Can't say I'm a huge advocate for adding Kuminga as I don't expect it to be a big needle mover in the short-term on a team that has a lot of structural issues that he wouldnt help at all.
But, for the right price I do start to get intrigued by the project. He's young, has physical tools and has scoring tools.
He actually has some developmental prospect parallels to a young Jaylen Brown. With that said, Brown is the exception to such a developmental curve and not the norm. Kuminga needs to show more as a perimeter player (3 ball and handle) to really have a compelling future in the NBA.
It would definitely be a clunky fit to try to shoehorn Kuminga into the SF slot on a heat lineup that features Bam, Ware, and Davion Mitchell. Spacing would be rough.

Which 2 are more likely to be grouped together?

FVV stats were better in Toronto, I agree, but then again, we gave Herro the green light here to score, whereas FVV is now more of a facilitator.

FVV is coming off a 3-130M contract where the Rockets overpaid him since teams needed to reach a minimum spending threshold and they were bad and also wanted to get him away from TOR. I think this is him just being, I want to win, 25M still alot of money, they already paid me 130M so now im repaying the favor.
This deal will have zero impact on Herro negotiations. 95% of players (and agents) will always be trying to get paid as much as possible. I 100% agree that teams need to stop giving any fringe all star max deals though. Its ridiculous. I do think teams will realize that and adjust accordingly, I just dont think FVV is part of that. Its a unique case.

Herro and Bam for Jaylen Brown?
My guy, you make that trade for Giannis. You make that trade for Luka. You make that trade for Jokic.
You don''t make that trade for Jaylen Brown lmao

So why would Herro care about the salary of a 30+ declining facilitator? Point is not every guard that pops up in a headline is relevant to us.

Plus the Heat will not want to get more players than they send out.SA37 wrote:EMC5466 wrote:?s=61
Price? Take him please!
Unfortunately, the Lakers really don't have anything great to send back unless it is Reaves.

Believe me, I want to have a team that isn't **** to look at next year too. So I'd love something that would get them that help and see what they can do (not like we have anything else to look forward to).
But realistically, how can we do that without compromising assets that would give us a shot at REAL talent next summer?
Is Rozier, Duncan, and Wiggins with no picks added enough to get us solid rotation players to fill the gaps? We still need a starting PG (imo, Davion is great backup material but not a starter) and a scoring big off the bench that can sometimes close when we go small with Bam at C.
Assuming Jovic is showcased and moves full time into the starting lineup, we have:
PG/Davion
Herro/Larsson
Jovic/Highsmith
Bam/?
Ware/?
How are we filling those gaps with just giving up trash and not compromising real assets that can be used for 2026?

Saudades.

So we're gonna compare Herro to every guard that signs a contract or traded whether they're similar or not?

As long as it makes him look bad, yes.
But please don't forget, we also simultaneously need to say that Herro is a good enough centerpiece in a package for guys like Giannis, Luka, and Anthony Edwards.
