Re: Around the NBA III
I hate to admit it, but I love Steph Curry more than any Clipper ever. Brilliant basketballer, classy and nice guy. The greatest shooter of all time, changed the game of basketball as much as Wilt Chamberlain did. Nothing to do with his 4 rings. And now, leading his depleted and old/young team at the end of his career like the champion he is.
Megaprops.
Megaprops.

Horrible about Dame', and bad luck for the Bucks... Giannis probably gone unless they do some decent off season work.

Another year, another vintage chokejob in an elimination game by the worst coach in sports history:

That was his players fumbling the ball away, two big turnovers by GTR.

Gut punch for the Nuggs.
Be interesting to see if anyone steps up for Denver, or they get blown out.

And the champs got blown out by the Knicks after losing half their version of 213. And of course with Steph out, the Dubs were toast. Also the Bucks and Lillard.
Lotta luck involved in these things.

Yeah 2nd round has been a roller coaster for a lot of folks and orgs.. glad this team at least had a full shot.
Be pretty amazing if Denver wins, but I think Minnesota would overwhelm them again, to some degree at least.

Re: Around the NBA III
I think it'd be awesome if the Pacers just go ahead and win the title this year
May well not happen, but hey, I'd love to see that for Indy.. and shows up the darling teams.
Obi Toppin seems to of turned himself into a solid energy hybrid forward on both ends with shooting range..
Pacers remind of the 2004 Pistons in that they don't have a big star player (Haliburton is really good all-star yes) -- but a bunch of solid to really good players who can play on both ends.. obviously defensively totally different, but similar team approach.
Fun stuff, that series should be wild and long.

smh Towns..
New York Knicks coaches and players were frustrated by Karl-Anthony Towns' defensive habits throughout the season, according to James L. Edwards and Fred Katz of The Athletic.
The frustration was caused by Towns' defensive process and execution of incorrect coverages without communicating his reasoning.
His teammates were also worried that Towns did not understand the importance of the issue.
smh Towns..

Re: Around the NBA III
Big time win by Indy
Like I've said over the last two seasons.. OKC are just not that special of an offensive team in terms of versatility, offensive creation dynamics, and reliability. Not yet in the least.
And, their size make-up is unbalanced on the perimeter to the wing spots.
Between the two, the Pacers are the better offensive group, night to night.
BUT, let's see.. how the rest of the series goes.

Re: Around the NBA III
But they're saying OKC may have one of the best defenses of all time, though more and more people are noticing that they're "hand-sy" meaning they reach a lot and get away with it.
It was suppose to be a huge mismatch, given the net rating ranks of OKC, which was #1 and Indy which is out of the top 10. Suppose to be one of the biggest gaps in NBA Finals history.
They did cause 19 turnovers in the first half. But they didn't convert off as many of those turnovers and they shot poorly, keeping Indy in the game.

Re: Around the NBA III
just made the mistake of listening to 710 again briefly on my commute home- some of the commentators say they aren't even watching the NBA Finals because there isn't enough "star power" or something of that sort. Even if you aren't that interested, isn't it basically your job as a professional sports commentator to watch the Finals of a major sport you cover? It's basically admitting malpractice.

710 seldom has anything to do with sports. Everytime I hit the button I regret it.
"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Man what an awful last day for Indiana.. lose Haliburton in G7, but then.. also for most or all of next season, as well -- finding out the day after losing the finals.
Gawd awful stuff there.
I think a decent base lesson probably is .. if a calf is strained, probably don't want to play on it anymore for a little while (like around a week/till it gets better). Durant's to me was the leading example of that, when the calf issue came up in the 2019 playoffs before the NBA finals began.

Houston is killing it in the offseason:
[x][/x]
Team turned down his option ... but kept him on board at half the price. He struggled with some injuries that affected his shooting last year, but he's got a real chance to bounce back next year. Most of all, he's an Ime Udoka type player and fits in with the culture they're building.
