Newell and Fleming will have more NBA success than Ace Bailey.

Bailey will score and block shots, but he's at best, Dominique Wilkins.

Newell and Fleming with Sarr would be filthy defensively. All three have Siakim potential.

Newell & Fleming are two guys I like the least. Asa is PF sized in a C's body with C skill and Fleming's overall feel just scares me - although I do admit that can improve over time.

'nique couldn't beat Bird but he was a HoFer. If we got a HoFer with the 6th pick, that would be pretty schweet.
As long as we also still kept our '26 FRP.

The Wizards are going to have outright throw games in order to tank if McCollum and Middleton start. Even Olynyk will help Sarr a bunch.

Add Dominique Wilkins, err, Aurelius Bailey, and they're a 40-win team.

Pulled an Alex Sarr. Winger and Dawkins are changing the organization's reputation with young players.

Kon Knueppel is a good example of where advanced stats can steer you wrong. Aint no way this dude gonna be anything more than a mercenary three point bench wing.

He's definitely more than that, but I've always felt that anyone lifting him up into top 3-5 territory is insane. He's a perfect target for a team that needs shooting and predictability as a 4th or 5th option: he's a perfect fit for teams to me that are already contenders and need a shooter, he's a horrific fit for teams that are disasters (us, Charlotte, Utah etc).

I'm at a point where I don't think pure shooters should be drafted in the first round unless you think they have elite 3 and D potential or all-star potential.

Almost every year these "best shooter in the draft" guys just disappear. Even some of the best shooters in NBA history like Reddick and Korver bounced all over the place. Pure shooting guys just aren't going to be ready 9 times out of 10 to contribute to winning basketball in their early years. They still have to develop like any other archetype. And unless the ceiling is quite high, you're wasting the pick, because you can get a veteran pure shooter for relatively cheap in free agency.

Now obviously you think more highly of Kon than I do, so you can probably disregard most of this post, but just wanted to post my thoughts on pure shooters. We wasted a pick on Corey. I like the kid. But we wasted the pick. I think the Raptors wasted the pick in Dick. The Lakers wasted the pick on Knecht. Just IMO.

I hear you in theory, but (1) look back at the 2023 draft...there's maybe 2 first rounders taken after Dick that you'd rather have today than him and probably between 2-4 guys that were taken ahead of him that he's currently better than; wouldn't really say that was a wasted pick at all, and (2) those that are high on KK don't view him as just a pure shooter ala Kispert/Knecht. They project him as a solid, possibly good team defender and someone that can also do a bit with the ball in his hands.

I definitely agree if you're merely just a good shooter and stink at everything else (like maybe Koby Brea this year?) you shouldn't be sniffing the lottery.

I'm going to be happy with whomever they pick. I have trepidations about Ace--- lots of folks are comping him to Rashard Lewis. ehhhh, I guess I remember the Wizards' Rashard and not Seattle?
Fears is magic with the ball in his hand. That just seems cool. Tre and Kon are shooters---we're dead last in offense.
and Maluach has game-altering potential...

Derik Queen Is 6’10” And The Next JOKER (Lottery Pick Day In the Life)





Love this kid. Super likable guy. I'll be rooting for him wherever he goes.

He's right about Old Bay. Seems like a chill and humble kid. I'd love him at 18. Doubt he lasts that long.

Looking at this young man, I realize that he's younger than my two sons, who are 23 and 25 years old.

It is only recently that I found out that Kevin Broom does not watch that much basketball, he is mostly a stat geek.

This is an interesting observation.

I found this out while listening to him and Matt on YouTube discussing possible draft picks, he hadn’t seen any/many of the prospects, and he talked about his process, very interesting.

Yep.

When he and I spoke in May, I was surprised.

Amazing. He has a life outside of geekdom!

I’m a bit shocked at Corey’s board as well. Queen at 3 is definitely intriguing.

I loved the heck out of Queen at 6, but was so thoroughly rebuffed I waved the white flag.

I was sick of this draft weeks ago.

Dat and I had this discussion years ago.

I didn't care about measurables at all.

Kevin quantified and correlated measurables into his statistical spreadsheets.

I'm not that smart.

I'd be DANGEROUS if I were THAT smart.

I still think I could single-handedly outdo the Wizards.

Maybe not Dawkins and Co.

Well, that's not difficult! Just use the same metrics at the team level rather than the individual level & see how close your ordered list is to team records that season.

Pif, your knowledge is overwhelming. You have an amazingly retentive mind. You're able to catalog and compare past predictions.

What I want to see is how well doclinkin's consensus mocks vs YODA vs Dat2U etc do over time.

Ace was sick that day and opposing bigs routinely had their way against Rutgers. Their interior D was their big weakness.

For the season their starting center had only one more block than Harper.
