Yeah there's hella lot of smoke around Essengue (hopefully a massive smokescreen)...

I won't be upset about the pick because again I think he's basically like a Wemby of Bruce Browns lol which could/would be an incredibly valuable player. People really underrate how good Bruce was in DEN so I mean the comparison as more a compliment than an insult (and it's not one at all, it's just the player's game his most reminds me of).

BUT I'm not as hype as many other people are because right now he has all the attributes of a very high level roleplayer. I don't see any "star" like qualities ie/ shot creation, ballhandling, elite passing, explosive athleticism. But that's where we just have to cross our fingers/pray that he can develop some stuff over the years. But I still question the fit with Scottie because both of them are BAD shooters, usually you're just praying to get guys like them to shoot around 35% or so, just so teams will honour their shot. I won't rule it out but it's obv been a tough go with Scottie so far and Noa is not the same level of passer or have the post game Scottie does so this is a TON of projection at this point. If Noa can add some progressively better ballhandling & shooting, then I'm cautiously optimistic but his "fit" isn't that much greater than CMB and Queen -- and I think both of them are more skilled with Queen being the most. Like I said, if we pick him I'll be more "cautiously optimistic" but I like several players more than him for us.

I always lean wing (Bryant) but if the guard is good enough is he worth taking always?

Kyrie was a polished scorer heading into the draft. Fears doesn't know what to do with the ball after he gets into the paint. He's not a good finisher, and doesn't have a reliable shot.

I think in 3 or 4 years you're gonna be proven wrong on Fears. Although I expect some growing pains from him.

My final preferential list. This is not an overall ranking, but a ranking of players I like. For example, I think Bailey and Fears will put up numbers in the NBA but they're not really the types of prospects I favor.

1) Cooper Flagg
2) Dylan Harper
3) VJ Edgecombe
4) Tre Johnson
5) Kon Knueppel
6) Carter Bryant
7) Drake Powell
8) Joan Beringer
9) Colin Murray-Boyles
10) Noa Essengue
11) Cedric Coward
12) Danny Wolf
13) Nique Clifford
14) Ryan Kalkbrenner
15) Hansen Yang

From clips and articles, I deduced that Desmond Bane's 3pt shooting was legit and that he could be a SG/PG. Really wanted Lillard, Sabonis, Walker Kessler, Christian Braun, Franz Wagner, Tristan DaSilva. Only a couple misses with Sidy Cissoko, Cassius Stanley, Reed Sheppard.

Unless im mistaken you where pretty pro Jalen Suggs, and where selling him off as a future star

No hate brother we all have misses, I was convinced Harrison Barnes was the next big thing

And I wanted Ed O'Bannon over Damon Stoudamire.

Oh sure, I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. I remember getting flack for not being head over heals for Scoot Henderson. It's still early, but he's certainly not looking like he's going to be a dominant player.

False! I saw Suggs bank the game winning 3 and went NAH!

I was all about Mobley, saying that he's the next Embiid. At least on the defensive end. Before moving up to 4, I wanted Franz Wagner.

You must be thinking of someone else about Suggs.

Well at one point in the summer before the draft Harrison Barnes was mocked #1.

There has also been persistent rumblings around Derik Queen in the past 24 hours, with teams pointing to long-standing connections between senior vice president of basketball operations Troy Weaver to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. prospects historically, as well as the fact that his son, Thomas, was a Graduate Assistant on Maryland's coaching staff this past season. Weaver was a part of the Wizards front office until April, giving him a front-row seat to witness the impressive skill level and overall talent of Queen at Maryland all season.

Mr. 2 years away from being 2 years away chiming in
Read on Twitter

1. Forget that Frenchman, Noa Essengue walked out on his team before Game 4 of German league finals. That was strange. (He averaged under four points in the first three.) More importantly, how do you play a 198 lb. power forward in the NBA? Trying to figure that out.

2. 7-1 Maxine Raynaud, another Frenchman, was the second best player in the ACC behind Cooper Flagg. The seven footer made 2 3’s a game & will be a steal.

3. Love Carter Bryant & Cedric Coward. Saw them both more than anybody in person. But both slightly overrated via the mock drafts. Put Danny Wolfe in that mix also.

4. Rasheer Fleming, Nique Clifford, Collin Murray Boyles, Thomas Sorber will be valuable NBA playoff team role players for 10+ years.

mtcan wrote:For the purposes of coping....this is positive spin on how the following prospects help the Raptors if the current draft darlings, KM and CB are off the board or not being considered:
Noa Essengue: he's long, has a great motor and pretty switchable defender...and just 18 years old

Kasperas Jakucionis: big PG who can shoot it and is a crafty passer

Thomas Sorber: steady center...I see him as an extension of Jakob Poeltl as both are steady centers that take up space, defend, make good decisions and are considered traditional centers

Colin Murray-Boyles: good switch defender with some passing chops.

Joan Beringer: he runs the floor well...ugh...that's all I got

Feel free to add to this positivity post!!!

I was saying that Cason Wallace would help a team win more than Scoot. 8-)

Also wanted Bub Carrington and Nikola Jovic bad. Boguljub Markovic should be viewed as a taller Jovic.

Would Masai/Raptors pass up on Bailey if he dropped to 9

Return to Toronto Raptors
