I so love this pick.... I was dreading a KM pick.... But Masai & Bobby came through and grabbed my favourite player in the draft...

He could have said that for a number of other reasons like finally getting selected when he was expecting to go a bit higher, officially fulfilling a life-long dream of becoming an NBA player, etc. Judging a player off a one-second reaction seems dumb...

In retrospect, he's the most Raptory player to ever Raptor.

I like him. He has elite defensive potential as a multi positional defender, he can handle the ball and act as a facilitator in the halfcourt, and he has a nice soft touch around the basket. The swing skill is the shot, if it comes around, his potential is pretty high given all his other skills.

Can't wait to see him in summer league.

Man some of you guys really have no idea what you’re talking about.

First the overreacting to the video of him being drafted is just insane. He was clearly just soaking in the moment.

And how many times has Masai proven you guys wrong? Drafting is one of his strong suits. And CMB was probably the best defensive prospect in this draft and we got him at 9 you can’t be mad at that.

He was probably the BPA, so I get it. Their board generally looks different than most teams, I think, and to their credit they stick to it.

Overall, it’s fine. He’s going to probably play next to Mogbo, not take minutes from him. He’s a good fit off our bench and will absolutely contribute this season - which shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise. He’s a very solid, fundamental player and he’ll be in the rotation, so you’re probably not waiting on development. It’s the rationale many of us were posting about why they wouldn’t go Essengue here, and I think it’s probably why they passed on Maluach (or they know something about him that isn’t publicly known).

I probably wouldn’t have gone in this direction, but he will likely pan out - they know what they’re doing. Having said that, he’s a PF. Our highest paid player is a 4, and they don’t really fit together because neither of them is a great shooter. So, on this team, he feels redundant. I get that at this spot you want a rotation player, and I think we got that, but I think his upside is capped (at least with us) because he probably isn’t starting for us anytime soon if ever. I don’t really love that at 9, but I think his floor is high enough that it’s fine.

You should always go BPA and I think that’s what they did, so I’m not mad about it.

Because, respectfully to Barnes, he's not good enough for a team to pass up whoever they think the best player is.

I don't know much about CMB, but I like that the FO id going for BPA. When you need talent, you always go BPA

This pick sucks. Screenshot this or reply to it down the line I don't care.

Undersized PF who doesn't have half the talent Barnes does.

BPA is fine but if the plan is to keep Barnes long term then this looks like a pretty bad fit. Short term fit looks bad (Barnes and Poeltl) and long term fit is highly questionable too.

Maybe he is another OG for us and every team needs that big defensive stopper. I do miss watching OG scare the crap out of the opposing player he was guarding. I remember we had him guard Luka and Luka would just rather get rid of the ball. The pick makes sense. CMB’s defensive game is ahead of his offensive game.

I think the mental hurdle for many of us is first you look at positional need on paper and right off the bat it looks like C is a hole. Then people tend to look at stats a guy who does 20-5-5 looks a lot sexier than a guy who does 15-6-3 but plays insane defense.

Two way players are hard to come by. So if CMB is like a 8 on defense and 6.5 on offense, but has the potential to maybe become 9 on D and 7.5/8 on O. You got to take that over a guy who is 9 on O but with a 6 ceiling on D

I will rewatch the draft again but if i am correct just before the pick was announced he seen he got picked here he looked upset sitting down shaking his head....And then the reaction following the announcment....I could be wrong but im not alone in thinking that he looked like he didn't wanna be here ....Its not like im the only one who seen it here...Lol
