Hey I was wrong about Suggs I thought he was way better than Scottie.

Hopefully CMB will make me eat my words and be a way better player than Maluach

Just accept it instead of claiming overreactions. I also believe he’ll likely change his mind by the time he joins the team.

In poker when you face amateurs they give away their card with their first reaction. First impression is everything regardless of context/motivation. If you shook your head and mouthed **** after almost anything whether you mean different or not most people would perceive it as negative.

BPA over fit makes sense when you can provide the type of playing environment to maximize potential. Saying always draft BPA over fit doesn't make sense when you're in a situation with redundancy and you can't play the guy strong minutes to actually develop into anything more than a bench contributor. Did we waste a season tanking for a bench piece? Jesus.

I don't love the pick, but I am slowly rationalizing it to myself now. We have a lot of usage in the roster already. I guess CMB is someone that can bolster the defense and not take a lot of usage in the near term.

Still not convinced that CMB and Barnes can co-existing in an offensive 5 though.

RapsFanInOhio wrote:He was probably the BPA, so I get it. Their board generally looks different than most teams, I think, and to their credit they stick to it.

Overall, it’s fine. He’s going to probably play next to Mogbo, not take minutes from him. He’s a good fit off our bench and will absolutely contribute this season - which shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise. He’s a very solid, fundamental player and he’ll be in the rotation, so you’re probably not waiting on development. It’s the rationale many of us were posting about why they wouldn’t go Essengue here, and I think it’s probably why they passed on Maluach (or they know something about him that isn’t publicly known).

I probably wouldn’t have gone in this direction, but he will likely pan out - they know what they’re doing. Having said that, he’s a PF. Our highest paid player is a 4, and they don’t really fit together because neither of them is a great shooter. So, on this team, he feels redundant. I get that at this spot you want a rotation player, and I think we got that, but I think his upside is capped (at least with us) because he probably isn’t starting for us anytime soon if ever. I don’t really love that at 9, but I think his floor is high enough that it’s fine.

You should always go BPA and I think that’s what they did, so I’m not mad about it.

How is he a good fit off the bench? With Poeltl, Barnes, Mogbo and CMB we’re going to have 2 non-shooters on the floor at all times. Add in questionable shooting from Shead and I don’t see how the offense is going to function effectively.

I like him. He has elite defensive potential as a multi positional defender, he can handle the ball and act as a facilitator in the halfcourt, and he has a nice soft touch around the basket. The swing skill is the shot, if it comes around, his potential is pretty high given all his other skills.

Can't wait to see him in summer league.

Cmon Oak. We got Zach Randolph without the fat ass or mid range jumper

I still remember hearing on some pod one of guy saying CMB killed it in his draft workout with Toronto. It was inevitable.

He is a hardworking kid and we are going to have 48 mins of Scottie level defense always on the court. That's scary times.
