I like him better than Maluach and there’s an argument he was the BPA but this isn’t a good fit for a roster that already struggled with shooting already.
Still not sure what the plan is with this franchise.

Agreed but there are a lot of questions. It feels like something is going to have to give in the future. This feels like another Barnes/Siakam situation where the fit becomes untenable. Unless CMB has some hidden shooting potential it seems like a very unbalanced roster.

Thank you! When people on this board say BPA over fit they really THEIR BPA over fit. So once you don’t pick who THEY think is BPA all of a sudden the pick is trash and isn’t BPA. None of us know who will be the BPA until these guys develop and play a few years in the league. I trust Masai on this
It's not just about fit with this team. He's an undersized 4 that can't shoot, he's currently not a good fit with ANY team in the modern NBA that doesn't have a stretch 5. There's like a handful of players that you can actually play alongside him.
We haven't even solved the spacing issue with our franchise cornerstone Scottie, it's completely reasonable for people to have concerns about doubling down on this roster construction

He even cursed the pick out according to lip readers.
Seen on reddit:
My Mom is an expert lip reader for Toronto PD and she confirmed he shook his head and said '****, this some bull'. Then when he walked towards the stage he said 'snowy ass city'.

So we are trusting reddit mom's lip readers now?
Only if they're expert lip readers with Toronto PD.
How many lip readers does Toronto PD have on staff I wonder

Don't love the pick. Obviously I wanted Malauch. We must think we have enough offense

Anyone they drafted here was going to be a backup. And they probably weren’t going wing, given they have a glut of wings.
There was no PG here worth taking. So basically you either take a C who was a project or you take a forward who was BPA on the board and has playable skills. Pretty straightforward decision, they took BPA.

Re: With the 9th Pick, the Raptors select Collin Murray-Boyles!
Watched some offensive highlights… all of his points are attacking the basket… at 6’6.5 with average athleticism and no jumpshot we’re expecting him to get his game off in the nba? He’s like Rondae Hollis Jefferson.
His defense better be damn **** good… is he a lockdown 1 on 1 guy? Or is he just supposed to be another team defender like Scottie Barnes, who’s measurables and athleticism looked even better than cmbs?
Idk man, maybe he’ll pan out, I just don’t understand the direction here.

Re: With the 9th Pick, the Raptors select Collin Murray-Boyles!
Raps obviously have a type.
CMB was so obviously a Raptors pick we should have all expected this.
Vision 6'9ish back. Long versatile player who can't shoot. I thought we learned from this, but maybe seeing the Thunder success was enough to revive the dream.
Don't love the pick, felt we could have got him later, so trade down to someone who wanted Kaman would have made sense. That said, I don't think he would have been available outside of the lottery. Maybe a trade is still on the table...we'll see.
I've heard some say that if he can shoot the three he could be the best player in the draft...but that's a big if.
Didn't feel like a BPA pick, but hey, the folks making the pick know a helluva lot more than me.
Hope CMB turns out to be another player we look on in a couple of years as a 'steal'.

Best defender in the draft
One of the best defenders drafted recently.
Playmaking ability
A jumpshot away from stardom.

We have people in her complaining who admittedly never watched him play and just youtube’d some highlights after we picked him

Honestly, it seemed like his GF was sad to the point she had tears of sadness... then this guy looked miserable when standing up.
I will wait for his comments about being in Toronto before thinking my initial thiughts are right. I'll be pissed if hes pissed lol.

BPA is fine but if the plan is to keep Barnes long term then this looks like a pretty bad fit. Short term fit looks bad (Barnes and Poeltl) and long term fit is highly questionable too.
Loves Barnes but he’s not someone you should pass on young talent to accommodate. If he doesn’t take any steps forward over the next few seasons then maybe he could get dealt for a better shooting piece.
TorontoBarneys wrote:BPA over fit makes sense when you can provide the type of playing environment to maximize potential. Did we waste a season tanking for a bench piece? Jesus.
Everyone on the board was going to be a bench piece..
