Wow Blazers in a weird spot. They have Klingon, Ayton and Yang now, that is a lot of traditional bigs. Maybe an Ayton to Toronto trade in the works?

There's scouts who had CMB closer to 20 than 10. BPA is opinion based.

No ****.BPA is subjective. They're literally projecting.

All we know for sure is the Raptors went BPA based on their board.

They 100% did the fit makes no sense. Defence first and amazing advanced stats

For a former scout Masai really just sits back and watches on draft night.

Please sell me on him, I wanna not hate this pick.

"MB’s vertical athleticism and scoring package is the only thing holding him back from being a Tier 1 (All-NBA) prospect. He only managed to dunk forty-nine of his two-hundred fifty-seven career rim makes while only connecting on nine threes over that same period.

I have never been extremely high on his scoring profile, but find his value comes from everything else. He is an All-Defensive level defender with his movement ability, wingspan, and ability to generate stocks. These defensive traits make him extremely versatile on that end and the best defensive prospect in the class. His defense combined with his ability to score at the rim as a driver and play finisher while creating scoring opportunities for others will allow him to be a high-impact player regardless of whether the jump shot ever comes around or not.

CMB was the focal point of South Carolina’s offense this year evidenced by his team-high 27% usage rate. He will never see this level of usage or defensive attention in the league as he is much more suited for a lower usage role where his defense and playmaking can be the focal point. During his freshman season, he played in a 22.9% usage rate role, and his ancillary offensive skills were on full display, as evidenced by his 1.4 A/TO, 12 OReb%, and a 0.234 dunk rate. Regardless of these circumstances, he was still able to be a highly efficient scorer, thanks to his touch around the rim, ability to get to the free throw line, and flashes in isolation as a driver. Although South Carolina struggled in conference play, the team was still competitive with CMB on the court. His on-court adjusted Net-Rtg of +23.5 was better than other underclassmen prospects such as Harper, Bailey, Edgecombe, Johnson, Fears, Bryant, Jakucionas, Sorber, Powell, and Riley.

CMB is an elite defensive prospect and his offensive value will be driven by his high-level playmaking and bully ball scoring. The shooting outlook is bleak, but he is extremely complete in all other facets. The quintessential example of why it is important to focus on what a prospect can do at an NBA level, instead of harping on what they can not."

kid is a savant as a reactive defender, productive offensive player with great touch despite not having a jumper, good court vision. Strong. A bit like Scottie that way. Even without a jumper he creates advantages offensively, if he can actually develop one it isn't crazy to say he has legit star potential.

They also have Robert Williams. Teams have better 4th Centers than we've had as backups over the past 5 years lol

He wasn't even predicted to go in the 1st round from what I recall.

I think it was expected that the Nets would select him with one of their many late FRPs.
