Ingram is not an elite offensive player. His career TS% is below league average.
CMB effectively locks us into a middling offense. Our 3pt shooting is going to be near bottom of the league. Also, how many rookies actually have a positive impact defensively? The numbers are incredibly low.
Who cares about next year. Anyone that thought the 9th pick would impact winning next year is an idiot.
This is a developmental pick. An elite defensive player and solid offensive player who needs to rebuild his outside shot, but does everything else well.
Disagree about Ingram, TS isn't the be all end all.
It is the 9th freaking pick. Getting a starter quality player is a win. Everyone thinking we getting a star there is overly optimistic. And I'm saying that as someone who thinks CMB can be a star
We have Ingram under contract for effectively 2 years, so yeah, next year sort of does matter if you’re going to bring his name up. You think CMB will be ready by year 2? And if so how well do you project our offense works with some combination of the worst shooting front court in the league?
And you can disagree about Ingram but you’d be wrong. PPG, efficiency, passing. No matter how you want to cut it he’s not an elite offensive player.
I'd be wrong if there were a clear criteria for elite. He's the best offensive player on our team if that makes you feel better.
Again, no rookie is impacting winning at the 9th pick. And yes, I do think the CMB is going to be ready to impact winning by year two, but I absolutely think that he'll still be coming off the bench.
Right now our bench is pretty balanced. Shead, Dick, Walter, Ochai, CMB, Boucher (maybe) Battle and Mogbo. CMB can play 3-5 on defense.
Honestly what we need now is a Stretch big like Kalk in the second round to balance out the roster.
CMB is going to have an OG like impact on the defense. He just needs a corner three point shot to go with his cutting and interior play. CMB is way more offensively talent than people are making it out to be.
He is a freaking 11.9 BPM player, he's got skills.
