I like Jase a lot and really wanted the Magic to take, but I don't think it's fair to put VanVleet or Lowry comparisons on him in terms of them all being short guards who were really good defensively.

I don't think Jase going to be a particularly good defender, but as long as he gives effort on that end everything will work out fine.

There are also some decent guards out there but I do not know how I feel about bringing in 2 rookie guards.

This is the correct move IMO. Value of a cheap backup C for us right now is very high so we can transfer some money into wing or PG depth. Several good options available.

I thought I looked at a mock a few months ago, and Jase was a lottery pick, no?

“I think it goes back to my mom coaching me," Richardson told me. “She taught me that being efficient is a great way to stand out. She taught me how to make sure I’m taking the right shot for my team or to make sure I’m passing up good looks for great ones. Things like that. So, for me, I’ve kind of just always had that mindset where, whatever minutes I'm playing, I'm gonna try to be as efficient as possible and try to get as much done as I can in that time.”

Did we just drafted our offensive coordinator assistant coach ? :D
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Most guys had him top 10. I didn't think he would come off the board AFTER Clayton. Crazy!
Yeah, I saw him around top 10 a few places......glad we directly addressed shooting instead of our meta.... Length and defense

Not my favorite but added offense. If he can be consistent, will likely work out better than Cole.

I’m excited to see an offensive player in Summer League.

I think it's hard for people to see the vision because they've forgotten what it's like to watch a team that can run an offense. We're used to grinding out dog fights that are won or lost on a rebound, so a small player feels like a threat. Maybe he and Bane will help change the whole approach.

Really?

- Famous NBA dads
- Undersized SG
- Spark Plug Scorers
- …

But those things have nothing to do with style of play or effectiveness on the court.

If that’s how you chose to interpret them, but like it or not these are all factors in evaluation. Each is clearly a high level summary for deeper analysis. One being they have been around the league their entire life. One being they can’t play PG. And on and on.

Izzo played Fears at PG...doesn't mean Jase cant/isnt a PG. I think him and black pair nicely together.

Izzo is known for burying freshman...what Jase did at MSU was pretty special.

Raffle? You mean selling right?

No, I meant raffle

Still a plus wingspan I feel like Weltman knew what he was doing saying that he had 6’6” wingspan. lol
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

So here's the thing...

If you're 6'1" and I'm 6'1", but you shoot 55% at the rim and struggle against length at the basket and I shoot 70% at the rim and don't struggle against length at the basket - does it actually matter at all that we are the same height?

The size thing only means anything if it actually negatively impacts something. It did for Cole in college. It didn't for Jase in college.

So I asked this earlier.

Is he a SG at 6’1?
Does he have the handling/passing to be a PG?
Is he going to look good next to AB?

I don’t hate the pick. We could have done a lot worse at #25 100% . I just question his role is all.
