Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2 – Capture the Flagg
Celtics are excellent at making trades under Brad, mediocre at best at drafting. Flemming at 28 and one of the bigs (Kalkbrenner) at 32 was such an obvious draft.
Maybe Hugo was the only guy that agreed not to come over so Celtics can save some more $ for the new owners. I hope that's not the case.
Hugo was such a disappointment for Madrid this year, hypothetical player that's not good/great at anything. Basically, Abrines 2.0.

Cooper Flagg would be playing for Maine Celtics if we drafted him, with Joe as coach.

Well, I have been looking at film and nothing seems impressive. But so many people on here are very analytical. The kid shot 27% from 3. Let that sink in.
He's also going to be playing behind so many players. So why bother even drafting him.
Meanwhile, at this moment, we only have one center on the roster, so even if we sign cornet, that is a joke at center.
Shot 77% from the line which can be an indicator of future 3 point success at NBA level.
There’s room for improvement there with the jumpshot.
I personally don’t mind us taking a chance on a guy buried behind a few in the Euroleague.
Real Madrid over the years has produced some pretty decent talents.

Haven't multiple sources just said the Celtics are bringing the guy over now?

If we weren't going to take a big, I would have much preferred Penda..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

They're bringing him over, been stated a few times and Brad said it in his interview.

Who knows? Real Madrid would decimate any American college team, including Duke. You wouldn't expect a 19 year old to get many minutes on that stacked roster. Let's see what he does in Summer league.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2 – Capture the Flagg
Brad's lauding Hugo's competitiveness, playing with high level pros. Several good players are still available.
On yesterday's moves: Need to prioritize flexibility. They knew this was coming.
"Our owners are committed to spending." The 2nd apron penalties are real. That can't be overstated.
Mentioned Tatum's injury as a major concern a couple of times. Prioritize the health of JT and JB.
"My goal is to compete for championships."
"We need to maximize asses and regain flexibility." Mentioned flexibility over and over.
Our priority is bring Al and Luke back. We'd love to have them back.
There will be no timeline for a long time on JT for a long time. Baby steps. He's progressed great. He won't be on the court til he's fully ready and healthy.
Hugo played tonight. Brad not sure if he'll be in summer league due to Real Madrid's late season.
He's playing with old pros. When you put on the RM jersey it's similar to playing here. Hugo accepts any role it takes. With that comes an understanding to take advantage of any opportunity you get.
Brad says he prioritizes fitness, toughness, and competitiveness in drafting.
Talked fondly about Remy and Austin.
"We're certain to have some really good players on the roster next year. We'll compete with all we've got."
on Hugo's strengths: cutting, unselfishness, sacrificing your body. He will become a better shooter. (Scal also mentioned Hugo's cutting.)
Jaylen's made a lot of progress. He'll be ready.
Asked about Mazzulla: "We want Joe here for a long time."

Oh please.
Stop being ridiculous.
We’ve had zero good rookies worth playing on a contender in Joe’s time there.
Joe is no different to any other contending coach. You don’t get any burn as a rookie unless you’re exceptional.

What's you just described is what I just saw on video. Doesn't look apparently good at anything. Meanwhile, facts are facts, he shot 27% for 3 years. That is not a small sample size.

I haven't been following the draft tonight, tuned in at pick 26. That's why I wrote maybe, I was assuming. I am glad he's coming over. Hope I'm wrong but I don't see an NBA player in him.

Pick 28 I don’t understand people acting like anyone drafted won’t be a project!!!
Even someone elite who was end of first round like Jimmy Butler weren’t ready made players on day 1.
If they were NBA ready they’d be going higher

The only miss really is not playing Nesmith more. But he had his foul issues which he still has to this day and his shot wasn't hitting back then.

Can you imagine Hugo and Walsh on the court at the same time?
Clang... Clunk... Clang... Clunk... Clang... Clunk.

No tatum for year
No Jrue
No KP
Added Simons

Looks baaaaaadddddd
We didn't have KP in the playoffs. He was hurting the team by being on the floor.
We had half of Jrue vs 2024.
We didn't add Niang. He saved over $22 million by trading for him. Look at it that way.
Simons is better than a 35 year old Jrue and a useless KP in the playoffs.
Tatum being out is what is going to hurt this team.

Starting at our Wings, we have d. White and j brown..
Backing them up, we have sam hauser and rico..
So this kid may not even play..
Meanwhile, who is our starting power forward and our center??
