I'm with you here. Penda/Fleming was kinda my hope. But, I'm still good with Hugo as long as we get one of those 2 tomorrow. :)

I like Gonzalez.

He & Egor Demin (#8 pick from BYU) were Real Madrid U17 leading scorers as 17 year olds in 2023-24. Gonzalez had more impressive numbers IMO.

Stat | Demin | Gonzalez
-------------------------|---------------|---------------
Points Per Game (PPG) | 15.8 | 15.6
Rebounds Per Game (RPG) | 6.8 | 5.3
Assists Per Game (APG) | 4.5 | 3.5
Steals Per Game (SPG) | 2.1 | 2.9
Turnovers Per Game (TO) | 4.1 | 1.9
Blocks Per Game (BPG) | 0.8 | 1.3
Minutes Per Game (MPG) | 28.4 | 26.3
3-Point % (3PT%) | 18.6% | 24.4%
Field Goal % (FG%) | 42.1% | 42.2%
Free Throw % (FT%) | 73.3% | 77.8%

Even if you put him above jordan walsh, he's technically our fifth wing behind brown white hauser and rico. All while not even having a decent, powerful forward or center.. I'm sorry but that is just horrible..

If you're Jordan Walsh, you better show up at Summer League and play well. Won't take the Venture Capitalists more than 10 seconds to buy him out for that $200K and replace him with Hugo...

Stop being ridiculous.

We’ve had zero good rookies worth playing on a contender in Joe’s time there.

Joe is no different to any other contending coach. You don’t get any burn as a rookie unless you’re exceptional.

The only miss really is not playing Nesmith more. But he had his foul issues which he still has to this day and his shot wasn't hitting back then.

Nesmith wasn’t on the Celtics while Joe was coach.

That was Ime.

Ah right, I was thinking he overlapped one year.

Well, I have been looking at film and nothing seems impressive. But so many people on here are very analytical. The kid shot 27% from 3. Let that sink in.

He's also going to be playing behind so many players. So why bother even drafting him.

Meanwhile, at this moment, we only have one center on the roster, so even if we sign cornet, that is a joke at center.

Also meanwhile, the offseason has just started.

Yes but a big chunk of it just happened. Are you expecting much to happen in july and august?

What are you even talking about? The majority of it happens in July.

Haven't multiple sources just said the Celtics are bringing the guy over now?

Yes but that fact gets in the way of the rampant negativity.

Conflicting opinions:

Bobby Krivitsky‬

ESPN's Jonathan Givony on Hugo Gonzalez: "The Boston Celtics got one of the steals of the draft here."

KeithSmithNBA

Picks I'm lower on:

Jeremiah Fears - #7 - NOP
Cedric Coward - #11 - MEM
Hansen Yang - #16 - POR
Hugo Gonzalez - #28 - BOS

You say facts and negativity, so what is 24%? Sounds like a facts and negativity to me.

I just want to say everyone obsessed with drafting a center is an idiot. You don't draft for need, especially at the ass end of the first round.

Get a goddamn clue.

LOL - I'll take Givony over Smith.

Clang... Clunk... Clang... Clunk... Clang... Clunk.

Shooting is the easiest, most common thing that players improve in the NBA.

JB wasn't a good shooter in college..neither was Grant. White and Al didn't really shoot it before getting here..

Also, Hugo being drafted might signal Walsh is about to get traded..or he'll get waived before the season since only $200K of his contract for this season is guaranteed.

Perhaps we'll have them both on summer league team and if Walsh isn't lighting it up there, he'll get cut..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)
