Super happy with this pick.

Gives us a Scottie replacement if we ever trade him. Highly valued asset as well if we ever want to trade him and more importantly, he’s a jumpshot away from being a top 2 player in this draft class in my opinion.

He’s a special mover for his size. Would not surprise me if he averages 12/6/3 next year.

The reason I ask is because of KAT. I did not realize his first name was Karl Anthony. I thought his last name was Anthony-Towns.

KAT got nothing on CMB

And this whole “he doesn’t want to be here” stuff is insane. He clearly knew he was coming here. God forbid someone is in awe of realizing his dreams and says “****” in disbelief that he’s finally made it.

Good grief. Can’t wait for summer league, we got a stacked squad if our bench pups decide to play for the team.

I don't know that he gets there, because no one can predict shooting, but I think that's part of the rationale beyond that he can be an instant contributor off-the-bench and fits what they like in terms of grit/competitiveness.

obviously that's a very high benchmark but there's a reason why masai drafted him over some of the other prospects out there, who also had lots of potential.

I think they'll envision him ideally as a possible future 3 or 4 instead of a small 4/5 but that would be down the road.

Kawhi has an elite handle

Kawhi developed an elite handle, definitely did not come into the league with one. CMB's handle is pretty good at this stage.

CMB does have a 7'1 wingspan, for those worried about his height

MASAI SAID EFF MALUACH JUST LIKE I PREDICTED

Have you posted your query / FRP selection criteria?

I would rather sell this information to rival NBA front offices before I ever did something like outline it in extreme detail on RealGM.

What is your query telling you for our second round pick? An Masai types left?

Feels like the Scottie pick. Where Suggs just made so much more sense positionally. Well Scottie was a good player, but ultimately he ousted pascal and OG because of overlap. Does CMB oust Scottie?

Just feels a bit like chasing our own tail here. I have no doubt CMB will find a way to be productive, but are we just taking a step back and restarting with Scottie 2.0? Or Pascal 3.0?

Yeah because people don't think the Scottie/Giannis pairing isn't wonky and CMB isn't a significantly worse passer as a prospect than Scottie was.

It's hard to understand contemplating trading Scottie in Year 4.

I wanted KM because he adds something that we don't currently have, CMB is someone we can put on opposing teams best wing player or a bigger 4 or even a small ball 5. If he lets Barnes play as a backline defender that's gamechanging as well.

Adou Thiero is the only one left.
Tre Mann should have been a Top 10 Pick in the 2021 Draft

I am shocked the Raptors didn't trade up, trade down, or straight up trade the pick. Even though they barely ever do that I am shocked and will continue to be shocked when this doesn't happen going forward

A big do it all forward with question marks shooting wise are like the definition of high ceilings
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Did he not have access to a professional shooting coach while in college?

no idea

If there's one thing that we all know is that draft night always goes the same way

- everyone has their set player they're excited to draft
- others have their more informed player they expect to draft
- Masai shocks everyone and picks someone no one expected
- player has suspect reaction to being drafted by Toronto
- people cry
- and cry
- some start to convince themselves and come around
- few learn that you must trust their drafting record
- player says some corny **** about liking Canada and a huge portion of fans immediately love him
- player shows flashes and is immediately anointed the savior and is better then all his peers
