OMG Rasheer is still there. Poor kid. :(

Fleming
Markovic

I don't think either will make it to #39.

FYI... the Pacers are going to be making the selection ahead of the Raptors tomorrow night.

They’re going to steal Nembhard, aren’t they?

Seems like a smart dude with an NBA ready body who can possibly play 1/2 on offense and possibly guard 1-3. Fits the "lets copy OKC" model, maybe could be a Cason type.

I believe he had a workout with us.

Every time we play BKN, it seems like 80% of their roster is replacement level bench guards, so their draft tonight was right on brand imo.

I'm actually pretty happy with the talent pool still available for the second round. Quite a few players who I don't like got taken in the 1st round, pushing down some names that I'd be thrilled to get at 39. I'm guessing Fleming, Thiero, Markovic, Kalkbrenner, Raynaud, and Penda will all be taken quickly, but you never know. The guy who I'm really hoping we get is Javon Small. He'd fit in great next year as a third string point guard, and I think he has a good combination of skills and athleticism for his position.

Thiero is the only one left. If he doesn't drop to 39 I have no clue who they're gonna pick.

Oh okay, I thought you said Kalkbrenner fit the mold
as well. Maybe he dropped off, or I’m misremembering?

Kalkbrenner was on it during a couple mid-season updates IIRC, but by the end of the college season his production fell off. The bar is also higher for seniors though. 0 seniors ended up on the list this year and last year, but Shead was very close. He was only off by 1 marker (TS%).

So it seems like in the second round they’re okay taking guys who come close to the formula.

If there are no outright Masai-type FRPs left to pick, it's definitely possible. KJ Simpson was the farthest Masai-type drop last year and he went pick 42. Shead was pick 45.

Guys I like

Fleming
Kalkbrenner
Johni Broome
Markovic

Kam Jones
Koby Brea
Tyrese Proctor
Kam Jones
Thiero

There's other good options out there, but I'd like to see us draft one of the bigs.

Hopefully we pay for another pick.

Most of those players are expiring and/or making less money than Claxton

Only player with equivalent term and a higher salary is Grant and Portland seems like an extremely unlikely fit for him

Bucks will do it for Kuz they got no C and Brook is to old. I don't think people around the league view his contract as bad as you do. And his contract is top loaded it goes down a mil or two each year. But hey if you cant just keep him till his last year. Not like he's gonna ruin the tank.

Your original point was they could move Claxton for bad contracts and picks. I am just disagreeing with that idea.

Even if they were willing to move Kuzma for him (which I very much doubt), they certainly wouldn't give up assets on top.

Still some talent left on the board. Markovic, Raynaud, Broome, Tonja, Watkins would all be great outcome. Toohey is kinda interesting too.
