Yeah because people don't think the Scottie/Giannis pairing isn't wonky and CMB isn't a significantly worse passer as a prospect than Scottie was.

It's hard to understand contemplating trading Scottie in Year 4.

Who said anything about trading him in year 4. All I said is, he’s a good replacement if we ever decide to move him.

And he doesn’t need to be a better passer than Scottie, he’s already got better handles than Scottie will most likely ever have and is a much better scorer.

I think they can coexist, they’re both smart players.

I think he can be our 2nd best defender by year 2, if not by the end of year 1.

Overall, it’s fine. He’s going to probably play next to Mogbo, not take minutes from him. He’s a good fit off our bench and will absolutely contribute this season - which shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise. He’s a very solid, fundamental player and he’ll be in the rotation, so you’re probably not waiting on development. It’s the rationale many of us were posting about why they wouldn’t go Essengue here, and I think it’s probably why they passed on Maluach (or they know something about him that isn’t publicly known).

I probably wouldn’t have gone in this direction, but he will likely pan out - they know what they’re doing. Having said that, he’s a PF. Our highest paid player is a 4, and they don’t really fit together because neither of them is a great shooter. So, on this team, he feels redundant. I get that at this spot you want a rotation player, and I think we got that, but I think his upside is capped (at least with us) because he probably isn’t starting for us anytime soon if ever. I don’t really love that at 9, but I think his floor is high enough that it’s fine.

You should always go BPA and I think that’s what they did, so I’m not mad about it.

I mean if he’s good enough you move Barnes. Easy.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

In a lot of ways he is similar to Scottie being a long armed high IQ defender and playmaker on offense, but he is different to Scottie in a great way.

He likes hitting people and getting into the post and mixing it up. Scottie isn't a fan of that, especially not wanting to screen or play against size. CMB is going to add a level of strength and toughness missing from the team. I'd guess he is 20 lbs heavier than Mogbo.

Jakobe, Gradey, Ochai, Barrett. One or more will get traded. Not enough minutes. Igram is SF/PF

He could have said that for a number of other reasons like finally getting selected when he was expecting to go a bit higher, officially fulfilling a life-long dream of becoming an NBA player, etc. Judging a player off a one-second reaction seems dumb...

In poker when you face amateurs they give away their card with their first reaction. First impression is everything regardless of context/motivation. If you shook your head and mouthed **** after almost anything whether you mean different or not most people would perceive it as negative.
It’s bad optics.

As a former professional poker player this is dead wrong. Strong means weak and weak means strong, also betting patterns are >95% of tells anyway, not body language

I think Ja'Kobe is in the 10-man rotation over Mogbo and CMB will be the backup C, but other than that this depth chart looks accurate if it's a stand pat type of offseason.

damn we really got another Scottie Barnes

If this kid shoots it, he's a much better player than OG.

A lot of people will regret their take.

If CMB reaches his ceiling, he would be OG-lite

I'm trying to come around to this pick, the lack of shooting for postion being the main thing bothering me about it. If he can develop a jumper he will be really good, but that's a big If. One thing I do like, is that it seems like he has an edge and toughness about him our team could really use. Excited to see the Small Ball lineup with CMB, Scottie and Ingram out there.

It’s interesting because he plays more like a big inside than Scottie who just looks uncomfortable a lot. Doesn’t know how to lift defenders, pump fake, hesitate, avoid shot blockers, etc. Murray excels at this stuff and just has a better feel there. If anything, Scottie will need to continue improving his shooting to let Murray have space inside just because he’s better at it and Murray’s shot looks broken anyways.

Why can't he get off the ground more for dunks? His vertical must be below avg for his size in the NBA
