And it was for Coward, of all people who I really believe could be a star.

Watching tape, his passing looks legit. But that's it. He won't make a second contract in the NBA. We passed on at least 1 all star with where we originally picked and maybe at 16. He looks unplayable.

Watch Coward become an all star..

Did Cronin say the goal is to bring him over next year? Does that mean 2025/26 or 2026/27? He also said something about 5 centers so maybe this fall.

Can he play PF at all? Cronin is really talking him up.

If we want to tank for the #1 pick in 2026, yes he can play PF.

On a serious note, he can play PF as much as Clingan can. So no.

I'm really trying here, watching as much as i can to not lose my crap anymore than i have.

Like, who thought Jokic would be the best player in the world at 41?

I love the passing and high iq. that's exactly who i've been wanting on this team. A high iq, high feel, playmaker.

But he looks awful. Like unplayable, and this is from a guy that wanted Edey (I still think he could be a star with the right system like he had in College.)

He had 19 points, 25 rebounds and 8 assists in a game against Thon Maker.. Idk. I love it in theory the more i think about it but i dont see it.

This has to elevate our price for the Chinese market. Like, there's so much money to be made off this guy if he could ever be a starter. I would guess if he is actually good, we would have one of the largest markets from a ratings perspectives, right?

I just dont see it.. I'm begging GB to share some of the things he's hearing.

Was out for the night so didn't catch the whole draft. Just saw the Spurs got Bryant. That's neat. Good to see that franchise get a little draft luck finally with someone solid slipping to them.

If hes the real deal he could be sick on this roster. Having a guy with that kind of size who can dribble/pass on the perimeter and potentially shoot will open up court for Scoot and all the slashers on the roster.

Today has been a hard day to fathom as a Portland fan. I'm concerned that we're going to suck and Cronin will try to save his job by trading our fairly impressive draft stash for a player like Lauri or Sabonis.

I like the value we got from #11, even though I wished we got one of Noa/Coward/Bryant. But getting unanimous D/E/F grades by the NBA community is embarassing for Cronin and Schmitz.

Cronin is seriously lucky that he fluked getting Toumani. Why we didn't trade down is the biggest question mark on this entire draft day.

The only saving graces are:
1) It wasn't as bad as what New Orleans did.
2) it's so publicly mocked that Cronin and Schmitz will be facing serious job pressure if it doesn't pan out.

The irony is that the draft is a crapshoot anyway, and most #16 picks don't work out. That's not the point though. The point is that the player most certainly would have been in the board 10 picks later (unless Atlanta really was very keen), which justifies a trade back.

I can't wait to hear Cronin's interview.

One of the main things that makes him intriguing is that he lost a decent amount of weight recently and looks more mobile than he did playing in the CBA. Hes still on the slower end but If he has just enough mobility to not be a disaster on defense and his offensive skill translates he could be a pretty nice player. Funnily enough he actually had a better lane agility time at the combine than Kon Knueppel, who people have convinced themselves that hes going to be a good defender against NBA guard (I'm not personally buying it). It was probably a reach and I definitely would have taken Jakucionis, but its a pretty spicy gamble.

wow! I woke up to this. Glad I didn't pull an all-nighter to watch this debacle. Not at all surprised to see my guy Demin go to Brooklyn at 8. I am guessing he is the guy we wanted too and when the Grizzlies made their offer to nab Coward we were expecting one of Carter-Bryant, Essengue or Sorber to fall to 16. Drafting Yang seems like a panic move.

Another question, why didn't we go with the package Atlanta got for 13? It would have been much better to move down to 23 and get the unprotected 2026 New Orleans pick.

Perhaps they were reading all those posts from this board that kept arguing to take the biggest swing
possible
