I think his offense is probably underrated a bit in that he already has the self-creation skills to get his in the half-court in a variety of ways, whether that's from the block or via drive. Being the focal point of a really bad team will do that. But to his credit he still put up great numbers in a historically tough conference.

And just because he had this particular role at SC doesn't necessarily mean that's 100% his typecast future role with the Raps or that'll be his career trajectory. It just means those are the building blocks of skills that he comes into the league with as a 20-year-old. The point being that he's not as raw as he's sort of made out to be.

I can admit to being wrong about this. But I was caught up in the short-term and now see the bigger picture on what they're doing in terms of producing and developing two-way forwards. And it's not a bad call considering these guys usually turn out to be highly valued commodities in the league down the line.

I also think some of the lack of burst could be attributed to playing at such a bulky weight to be the small big. But if you slim him down a bit, he'll show some more there.

^ NBA Draft full

Just went back to see exactly his reaction to getting picked ....May have been an over reaction
But i read the lips before the Adam Silver Announcment...

"His girl had a sulking look on her face"
"He smiles looking around and asks someone, "Am i really going here......"Damn"
Few seconds later he shakes his head saying "Nahh" And mouths something else i can't really tell what he said

Camera pans away and comes back to him rubbing his face looking a little down....

And then he gets picked and everyone seen the reaction after that...

Might have been a little 2 deep in there but just wanted to get the details correct....Even if he was a little upset coming here im sure he will love it after a few weeks....I suspect it was more his GF who didn't like it rather than him and thats why the reaction....

I know he said after the fact it was a "Shocked" moment but he wouldn't come out and say anything different....Its not like he would admit on live TV to being upset...Im not a body language expert but...

Bobby said they didnt leak the pick to him so how could he have reacted before adam silver said his name. Man people need to get over this lmao

Hollinger

6. Collin Murray-Boyles

South Carolina
Age: 20
Height: 6-7
Position: F

I don’t know what to do at No. 6. There are four players I really like, one (Fears) I’m willing to gamble on and then I kind of throw my hands up. So, a 6-7 center from a team that went 2-16 in conference? Why not.

Murray-Boyles will need to change his game at the pro level because it’s unlikely he can play center for more than brief stretches. That will involve developing his nascent perimeter game, getting in better shape and improving his rarely used right hand, among other things.

That said, I’ve warmed up to his case. Watching him in the SEC tournament, his jumper isn’t broken. It’s a push shot from his chest, the release is slow and he rarely stretched out to the 3-point line in his role at South Carolina. But yes, he can get to the point where he makes a third of them.

Additionally, he has the feet and hands to guard smaller players on the perimeter; in fact, that part requires no adjustment at all, as he did that comfortably even as a collegian.

What I love about the clip linked above is how close he is to the dribbler at the start; players tell on themselves by how much cushion they give. Murray-Boyles had no fear that he could slide his feet with a smaller player.

Murray-Boyles’ hands, in particular, are notable: His rate of 2.9 steals per 100 possessions is pretty spectacular for a big man. He also shows good feel and instincts at the offensive end, both as a finisher and passer.

Finally, Murray-Boyles is a young sophomore who just turned 20. He suffered from having to be the best player on two horrible South Carolina teams, but he has a role player’s profile. He likely will need an adjustment year at the offensive end – similar to another SEC center, Grant Williams – but he can be a starting power forward if everything breaks right.

At 2 and 3.. but not 4 or 5. He's a 4 or small ball 5.

He is a universal defender, so he could play the 3 or 2 if needed.

We needed more size and a guy to play the backup 3/4. Someone to guard bigger wings and forwards.

He seems smart, talented and built like a tank.

I would have gone Malauch but let's see the kid play.

Not impressed by his attitude and maturity. He has to come in and prove himself, not the other way around.

I love the player but man I don’t like the fit…

Nonetheless I’ll never be upset about having another certified dog on the roster. He’ll still ironically beone of my favourite players just based on his toughness, swagger etc that I thought this franchise has needed forever but again man that fit is just so damn awkward…

Anyways…I wanna slap the idiots bagging on him for his reaction. Like are people blind?! Don’t just hear the word, look at his face for crying out loud, he’s SMILING EAR TO EAR. I actually thought he looked incredibly happy and the cursing was just a swell up of emotion like “f*ck I made it!! And I went top 10”…he wasn’t gonna mouth all of that so he just yelled out the f bomb. The shaking his head was disbelief like this is crazy. I haven’t checked his IG this morning but I really hope more of our fans poured out support to drown out the illogical morons making the rest of us look bad.

Duff, you should be taking victory laps as a CMB guy on this board.

No need to attach yourself to Maluach's name after the fact. Masai rightfully said **** that, just like my query predicted he would.

Don't mind the player but hate the fit besides barnes. Neither can shoot three's and neither can play the 5 for long stretches. Poetlt, Barnes and CWB can't be on the floor together. No where near enough shooting. Even with just two out of the three the spacing is suspect.

What?! lol

What is this even based on?? I don’t see any issue at all with either thing and if anything I was impressed with how composed and well spoken he was. Not to mention, all he said was that he will do whatever he’s asked to do so idk where the heck you’re getting this attitude that he has to “prove himself” when he’s shown absolutely zero sense of entitlement.
