It's hard when you're picking 28th and 30th.
Not enough data to come to a conclusion.
Give Baylor this coming season and in 2027.
Speedy Gonzalez might need 2-3 seasons to develop.

bizarre take. his picks so far:
Begarin (45th)
Davison (53rd)
Scheierman (30th)
Watson (54th)
Of those, Scheierman looks like a future rotation player, Davison is a G-league stud who would probably be a rotation player already on a team with a lesser roster, and Begarin and Watson showed flashes but ultimately are probably busts.
Two potential nba rotation guys out of those slots is not only not pathetic, it's above average.

He feels a lot like Scheierman. I really hope he plays in the summer league. I want to get a better look at how he operates. Right now, I can’t get a clear read on his game.
I kinda wish we grabbed McNeeley but I’m definitely open to being wrong about that.

It's Brad's latest project.
Hugo is not that important right now.
The spotlight is on Baylor now.
Cs need Baylor if Sam is to be traded.
Brad is talking about bringing back Al and Luke.
That means Cs need to shed Sam's contract for that.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2 – Capture the Flagg
Pacers just gave up cash and a future 2nd for #38, I would seriously be tempted to try to get one of #33, #34 from Charlotte or #36 from Brooklyn if either team is ready to stop drafting. Sending cash hard caps us at the 1st apron, but this year is all about ducking the aprons obviously anyway.
Raynaud at #32 and Fleming at one of those other picks would really excite me. Hugo is great but I desperately wanted a big man so Raynaud would scratch that itch and then Fleming feels like the guy who could be the steal of the draft having a clear first round grade but still being there at the top of the 2nd.
Or if alternatively we snag something a little later Markovic or Zikarsky would be interesting as stash bigs. Just give me a big man to pin my hopes for the future on.
I'm still pissed we missed out on Quinten Post. BC guy who loves to shoot the 3? Could have been a gem.

To make that trade we have to get below the 1st apron like you say. Another team if they’re gonna lock into that with us is going to watch to see us do it now. I doubt anyone makes the deal with us and just says ok we’ll trust you to get under eventually. So it might move the timeline up on them as far as more trades.
Also, it seems likely they play Scheierman a lot this year. They have two picks already. Queta is the starting center right now. Walsh and Davison are on the roster for now and Drew Peterson could be. Looooot of young guys. Also, probably a need to move some more money which requires future 2nd in most deals. Obviously depends on extra trade and the player on the board, but on the surface it doesn’t seem like a good fit to buy another pick this year for a future pick IMO.

You guys realize Queta is miles better than Kalkbrenner right? You don’t take a big at 32 just because it’s a potential need.
I’ll honestly be shocked if they go with Kalkbrenner or Raynaud, as both simply can’t move laterally on defense. Raynaud at least can shoot though

It's not 2 or 3 years. It's took jb several years to develop. The window is 2-3 years. And he would have been there at 32.
Id say go with older players that can transition to role players when JT returns. There have to be more trades. Absolutely nothing for center to stay under 2nd apron.
Roster needs to be filled and the money isn't there.

Last years team was short on cutting so I'm glad thats one of the skills Brad singled out about Gonzalez
Our offense got really static at the end last year. A lot of standing around the three point line and passing around the perimeter.
We need players imo who can challenge defenses with the ball in their hands. I just can’t quite tell if HG is gonna be good at that. We need guys who have a mid range game and can finish strong at the rim.
The offense wont ever chamge with joe at the helm

We're only $4.5m over the 1st apron though right? That's not a huge leap of faith to make that we'll get there (especially given the moves we've already made). Maybe it's even part of the trade? Dump Niang and slide back into the 30's.
Appreciate we've got a lot of young guys but we should have a lot of minutes to around. We've lost at least 3 starters and I'd like to see them slow play JB back early. Could be even more available if Kornet/Horford aren't back, especially at the 4/5.
I guess it comes down to how much you like the guy you're coming up for. For me it'd be Fleming (assuming we get Raynaud at #32), and I guess we already got an indiciation of Brad's feelings towards him given that we just passed on him at #28, but if you're like me and have a good first round grade on him that's not a bad trade-off (especially if it's paired with shedding even more salary).

Brad will gamble on Proctor, Lanier, Javon Small. Take Penda if he is available (maybe the end of the Walsh experiment with him and Hugo here)
Or trade out for future draft picks
He'll probably sign Al and Kornet so no glaring need for another big. Continue developing Queta and maybe get Omoruyi to play in SL and sign him to a two-way contract
I love Al as much as the next guy but Kornet amd Horford and Queta cannot be your bigs if you expect to be a somewhat serious team.
Thats a terrible front court.
Not saying a big comes from the draft perhaps a trade as if this team is trying to sell me on being competitive a rookie 2nd rounder isnt a starter either.

I think it was Ersin D.'s substack that made the point that Brad loves to draft wings, and boy were they right.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2 – Capture the Flagg
Raynaud is a significantly better prospect than Kalkbrenner in my opinion. Both are lumbering bigs, but that's why they're available at #32 and not going top 20. Raynaud at least has a high ceiling with his shooting.themoneyteam2 wrote:You guys realize Queta is miles better than Kalkbrenner right? You don’t take a big at 32 just because it’s a potential need.

Look at Quinten Post last year. Everyone said he can't move, and he can't, but he gave the Warriors great production as a stretch option that happens to be 7 feet tall (gave them 8/4 on 60% TS in 15 mins a game). Raynaud is a worse shooter but a much better mover (albeit limited).

He'll prob just trade back and take Amari Williams or Dylan Cardwell or one of those types of guys.

Team is going to be:
2 max guys
Tatum
Brown
1 higher paid
White
Mle level guys
Pritchard
Kornet
Hauser
Rookie deals
Scheierman
Walsh
Hugo
Queta
Vet min
Horford
That team **** suuuuuuuucks
Should have just traded brown for 2 White level contracts. Team is super top heavy amd will be crushed in playoffs and teams can just load up on tatum who will just shoot threes, and load up on brown who will just turn the ball over.

These two were our starting centers in the majority of our games in the last two seasons
Al is aging but Kornet has developed to a serviceable big
Queta will also get minutes. TBH, I am more excited to see what he really can do with extended minutes

You are missing Simons and Niang. If they stay - this is at least a play in team in the east
