If Penda is that great of a defender, I could see going for him. Vecenie has Kalkenbrenner as his second best available.

2nd round picks are nothing and the Crowder trade remains irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. We literally used just a 2030 2nd and cash to buy the 36th pick in 2023 that we used on Andre. The actual problem is all the picks that we let Horst flush down the toilet by allowing him to actually draft dudes (Wilson, Marjon, AJ Johnson, Tyler Smith, etc.). I'm guessing we end up buying an earlier 2nd and draft Kam Jones.

Penda is a really good player and would be one of the least surprising guys to see carving out an early role somewhere. I wouldn't be mad. You see how he can move his feet. He's a very good passer, too.

Penda and Thiero would each fit the “defend, dunk, and make your night tough” roster I’m hoping we build. Kam Jones and Koby Brea would get minutes, albeit for their offense.

Rasheer’s measurements are crazy, slightly better than Siakam who also had great measurements.

Fleming, Penda, Thiero, Proctor, Kam in that order. Any of those guys and I'll be happy with the outcome. No interest in a big slow body now that Wolf is gone. Call it the Lopez hangover.

Enters the league a much better shooter too. Also was the best shooting big in combine drills, and has continued that trend in workouts. He's a worker who will continue to add to his game.

Agree. I'm scared that Venecie has us mocked to Rocco. He hasn't mentioned insider knowledge like last year, so I hope he's just guessing. However, we've made numerous forays in to the ABL in recent years.

I'd take Fleming if he's there, but we already have a wealth of frontcourt options that we can retain either cheaply (Sims) or with bird rights (Bobby, Brook). Give me Sion or Kam Jones and I'll be happy (assuming we move up). Not nearly as big of a Penda fan as a lot of people I guess. He's "young" but everything about his game screams average/JAG NBA wing to me. His upside seems overrated.

It’s working. We will spend all day here pretending the Bucks will move up to 33 to get a potentially better player.

And if we don’t move up then will have the whole night to focus on the next David Noel we just drafted at 47.

We don't have enough frontcourt options we have low cost certainty on, or the requisite legs (Brook), defense (Bobby), shooting (Sims). So we ought to address that issue 1st w/ our fortune that all of Fleming, Raynaud, & Kockbrenner are on the board.

Let's get another 2nd in the 30's to acquire a wing like Sion James or Adou Thiero (not ideal fit for us, but what Ajax fans think he is). Speaking of Ajax, trading him is how we may get 1. Convince the Wolves they need him to guard SGA. Then buy another 2nd in the lower 30's. Profit.

Rocco was the guy that AJ had that huge dunk on, his biggest pre-draft highlight.

Probably 9 out of 10 times a big program guy like Proctor never goes anywhere in the NBA. But yes, I’d be all over getting him if somehow he falls to 47.

Otherwise I’ll pretend we move up to get Fleming.

That'd be one of the worst possible outcomes - stay put and take another role player project, this one who's slow-footed, can't shoot, & has little performance to go by. I'd have to seriously question their criteria for whom they draft, if I didn't already.

Good thing Sam's gotten a good majority of his picks wrong & whatever mole he was relying on had to be whacked by now.

Rocco would be on my "absolutely not" draft list. There's just nothing there outside of being freakishly tall. Gross.

We just did trade up into the higher 2nd when we didn't have another one in that range or better in the entire draft. We have the impetus & the means aren't difficult. Teams who've made multiple picks already (BKN, Hornets) may want out anyway. If we don't do it, it merits criticism.

We're also in a minority that didn't have a 1st rounder. So are an outlier for interest. Only the sickos will watch for ratings.

I guess the one thing that would slightly change my hate for drafting Rocco is if the plan is to give him a 2 year 2 way, and he develops with the Herd. If they deem everyone available at 47 is not 15 man roster worthy, this plan might not upset me.

If Rocco is wasting a 15 man roster spot, we're clueless.

Rocco is super raw, but at #47, it wouldn't be the worst thing to take a chance on his size. He's also pretty quick and fluid for being 7'3. Wouldn't be my first choice and he could very well wind up just being another tall stiff. The 2 year, two-way deal and developing in the Herd isn't the worst idea.

I'm not really married to any of these prospects in our range. Kam Jones would be fun, but I think he'll be gone before then.

Work has been crazy recently so haven't been able to spend as much time as usual looking into draft stuff, but from the bit of reading/watching I have done these are my favorite 10 remaining:

Rasheer Fleming
Sion James
Chucky Hepburn
Adou Thiero
Will Richard
Javon Small
Bogoljub Markovic
Viktor Lakhin
Brice Williams
Kobe Sanders

Fleming does appear to be the best available from what i've seen and the hypothetical fit with Giannis is obvious. Chucky seems to be an outlier for me - I think he could be a sleeper and wouldn't at all mind either selecting him at 47 or getting a later pick for him if we can. If we were going to take a swing on someone I'd rather it be Toohey than Rocco. He's a couple years older but still relatively young when looking at the rest of what's left.

I'm not buying the combine stuff with Rocco. Dude is an awkward, stiff athlete and if people wanna believe he has some sort of floor-spacing potential based on the shooting drills, then someone else can take a flier on him. For as big/long as he is, he looks like he has to use every single ounce of his athleticism to get up and contest shots at the rim. Huge red flag IMO.
