Jalen Williams, Caruso and Dort aren't good enough to cover the SF position?

Maybe they draft a SF at #24?

They're too small to go up against the SFs in the league. You saw how they looked against Pascal and Toppin. Small. They're strong everywhere so a small hole in the lineup isn't a problem. It would be ideal to get that 6'6-8" athletic SF who plays defense. Put him on bench, bring him out when you need the matchup, let him develop. That'll make them the most complete team in the league.

This. J-dub, Caruso, and Dort are undersized for most leading SFs in the league. Dort has the best shot because of his mass and agility.

If they go out and get Herb Jones or TM3.. it'll be insane for them.

Siakam are Toppin are bigmen, they aren't really SFs, they are power forwards. I can agree that OKC could use a POWER FORWARD defender, because as of now, they either play 2 centers and 3 perimeter guys, or one center and 4 perimeter guys.
They still have Dieng I believe, he supposed to be 6'9, is there still hope with that guy?

I don’t understand because he can’t shoot. And he wasn’t asked to really do anything for byu important last season. He was a fringe piece. I think the idea of him is better than the sum of the parts. As bill Simmons would say “I’m out”

Not necessarily a bad thing just that I don’t remember Hayward being talked about coming in. This must have been a weaker draft or average compared to the last few years, you can go back to ‘19 where Zion and Morant came in

I honestly never knew you were a college head Or do you just do extensive scouting pre draft?

I read what those who do say about them, watch videos of players projected to maybe go to us like many fans around draft time.

Wolf has unique O gifts but is a known poor defender. May be why he slipped so much.

I wonder if he had a promise and then it fell through. Bigs who went ahead of him have far less polished O games but are more known for good rim protection. Just depends what a team values.

I said this last night but I wanted to expand on it. The nba hurts their own draft by not being able to finalize trade quicker. It confuses their media partners and the audience. It also ruins the players moments wearing gear from a team they won’t ever play for. Seriously when’s the last time a draft night trade didn’t go through? What’s the point of keeping it this way?

ESPN hurts their own show by having different hosts on their channels and mostly having nba guys on the show. The abc crew was bizarre. Your main channel has Stephen A and Bob Meyers? There was overlap with the analysts but not who’s hosting? I know givony isn’t great on tv but they def needed more of him and Jeremy woo.

Make the hosts Malika, Meyers, Bilas, either woo or Givony, and Stephen A. With Shams, Marks, McNutt, Seth Greenberg as analyst and interviewers. Have them be on both abc and espn. This way you’ve got your nba today host, former nba executive, college basketball expert, draft expert, and the networks biggest star on stage together.

very puzzling Nets draft. The best talent they drafted, Traore, is a close (razor-thin/negligible) second best point guard in this class and he went 19 after the another supposed point guard Demin who they took at 8. I promise you Traore will be one of the better two-way point guards almost immediately. Day 1 starter material. It's weird that they prioritized point guards and he was the 2nd one they took and even took another after. Maybe they don't even realize he's much better than Demin? Scary thought. Or, they view Demin as wing and secondary playmaker akin to Avdija and plan to be patient and for some reason feel that's worth drafting over a lead guard like Traore? Again, scary. Or, and this is a real possibility, they took Demin (and others) for another team and they can't announce the trade until July 6th. In that case maybe we should wait until all the dust settles. I imagine the laughter at their draft room mostly centers around the big reaches of Powell and Saraf because they do actually compare favorably to two-way guys at this point.

It’s because the draft is technically in the 2024/25 season so the trades can’t be finalized until the 2025/26 season starts which is this weekend or next week, can’t remember: https://www.nba.com/news/key-dates

It’s a lot smoother with the nfl draft where trades are announced right at the podium before the pick but that’s because the league approves trades on the spot. Their draft is after free agency so the new season has already started.

It makes it super confusing both to watch and even going back into draft records.

Yeah, I know some not personal opinions of these players, Wolf will be big in the NBA, but I have heard that in college, he essentially played guard as 7 footer. Nets took two of the most interesting players from college in Demin and Wolf. I said this, but they are one of those rare players who are very interesting despite their ceiling probably not being high.

Watch for the Wolves to try to trade #31 to a contender for a non protected 2027 1st. Having that would allow Tim Connelly to trade both his 2026 and 2028 1st round picks immediately.

Where are you at with Kasp?

I just see Denim play in an up and down attack and I see his vision on the wing and he becomes a fun player to play with. He's also huge. With Kasp, I think he's a wonderful passer, but man, I am not sure he can get in the lane as a lead ball handler. If you're telling he's a longterm backup, then I like him fine.
