Did you mean HUgo instead of Broome?

That I could maybe see.

I mentioned yesterday that if Hugo hits, he could be similar to like a Josh Hart type of player..but Obi Toppin is another one.

Josh Hart, Obi Toppin, Christian Braun. Or even kind of like Tari Eason..a player kind of like that is what you're looking at if he really hits, or even kind of like Dyson Daniels.

When I see Obi with the Pacers, I see a lot of running, jumping, dunking, and offensive rebounding.

That's what I think Broome can provide the Cs when he comes off the bench.

Broome doesn't run or jump though..he rebounds, yes but not the other things..

Jesus.

In case you missed it, Porzingis played 40 games last year and was unplayable in the playoffs.

With Tatum, how are they not top 3?

Indy is done without Hali. Same with Bucks without Dame. So you're looking at Knicks, Magic, and Cavs. So ok #4 team in the East at worst if Tatum were healthy.

If tatum is healthy then you have to assume Philly is healthy.

And a healthy Philly is better

So thats a 5th.

Then when Tatum is back so is Hali which arguably propells them into or ahead.

Atlanta made some great moves, they can be ahead or at least equal.

And Milwaukee still has the best player in the east.

Sorry but I'll never put that poverty franchise in Philly with Embiid as their #1 ahead lol.

But again this is silly since reality is JT, Hali, and Dame all tore their achilles. Not going to derail the thread on this

Yeah, he's a below the rim guy.

Guess it's the energy that he exudes.

I'm good with Broome too. For rebounding, we were 6th last year, but to be fair Tatum was a big part of that. Drafting Broome would make sense if that's your primary concern - toughness and rebounding are the sure bets he'll bring. The rest of what he did in college may not translate, but he seems like the type of guy that just figures out how to win.

My top 4 is:

Rasheer Fleming
Noah Penda
Maxime Raynaud
Johni Broome

LOL. He's a Luke Kornet clone, except he's a better passer. And with his Stanford double major in math and computer science, he can go to work for Mike Zarren if he doesn't make the roster.

I have that as a rule but there are exceptions to the rule. I just don't know if broome should be the one pick over the others

I wanted Broome, but I’ve talked myself into Kalkbrenner.

I think Brad likes Kalk here.

Anyone but Kalkbrenner. And i'm not convinced Brad would take him since he can't move on defense and is a traffic cone in space. He's a 7-2 stiff, but cool he's 7-2 I guess?

Queta is miles better than him right now. I'd rather take Thiero or Koby Brea to try to get a rotation piece on the wing

We need cutting. Big time.

If we do draft a center tonight, I think it will be Kalkbrenner. It just feels like he is destined to be here.

Raynaud is actually a solid rebounder. He ranked 6th overall in rebounds across all of Division I men’s college basketball. Kornet, on the other hand, really struggles. His hands are awful.

Also, Al Horford is gonna be 40 next year. This playoffs his age really showed. He's been a great Celtic but it's hurting the team to rely so much on a center this old to play 25-32 minutes a night.

Larry_Russell wrote:I love Al as much as the next guy but Kornet amd Horford and Queta cannot be your bigs if you expect to be a somewhat serious team.

Thats a terrible front court.

Not saying a big comes from the draft perhaps a trade as if this team is trying to sell me on being competitive a rookie 2nd rounder isnt a starter either.

Vecenie just put out a 2nd round mock:
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6450435/2025/06/26/nba-mock-draft-round-2-kam-jones-tyrese-proctor/

31. Minnesota - Rasheer Fleming
Fleming fits the Tim Connelly archetype that he’s previously drafted in the second round, as a toolsy, athletic big at 6-foot-8 with a 7-5 wingspan (see: Josh Minott and Leonard Miller). I think he’s a bit more of a big than a wing and might be position locked at power forward, but Fleming improved as a shooter this year and has some real athleticism that allows him to make a big impact. He needs to improve his overall feel for the game and continue to grow as a passer and decision-maker.

32. Boston - Maxime Raynaud
Raynaud has the kind of game that has to appeal to the Celtics. He’s a big man who can dribble, pass and shoot the basketball after averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds last season at Stanford. He’s not the best passer in the world, and he’s a bit slow. But he’s also highly intelligent and has been on a rapidly positive ascent over the last six years of his basketball career. It’s easy to buy into him continuing to work to figure it out.

33. Charlotte - Sion James
James is one of the draft’s best bets to become a serious defender, as the big, physical guard can take on assignments across the positional spectrum with serious switchability and make disruptive plays with how strong his hands are. Offensively, it’s a bit more of an adventure, but he makes good decisions and has shown some improvement as a shooter over the last two years. The NBA playoffs showed that players such as this are in high demand.
